Re: [IRCA] 1490 KFIR 720
I liked it better when KFIR was on 1370 though. 720 used to be an excellent TP/DU freq, logging Western Australia, Eastern Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Russia, Indonesia, Hawaii, Alaska, Philippines, etc. 73, Patrick Patrick Martin KAVT Reception Manager ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] 1490 KFIR 720
I haven't really noticed anything during the day because they've always come in pretty well. I have noticed that they are coming in at night now. Not that strong, but they used to have no night signal at all. Maybe a system alignment / tune-up or something? 73- Doug On Sep 10, 2007, at 7:28 PM, Patrick Martin wrote: Walt, KFIR-1490? KFIR is on 720. They used to be on 1370 as a 1 KW daytimer for years. I think I heard QSL'd them around 1968 on 1370 and later in the 90s on 720. They may be on 10 KW now days, as they are much stronger days here than they were a year ago. Maybe if Doug Pifer can comment if KFIR is stronger living in the valley. ?? But KFIR is stronger than they used to be. Great going walt.

BTW, nice going Walt. Sweet Home is pretty cool. I like KFIR's lead in into the news. Their sign on and sign off are pretty cool also. It's an ex logging oriented town with Foster and Green Peter lakes nearby . ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
Re: [IRCA] 1490 KFIR 720
Doug, KFIR has done something. That is for sure. But I must admit when they moved from 1370 to 720, their signal went to pot. According to the DJ who QSL'd my report, his letter says their coverage is much poorer now do to the mismatch of the 1370 tower. Maybe they finally got it loaded up correctly. The difference here is quite a bit for the distance during the day and yes I do hear KFIR mixing with KDWN at night now. Not strong, but they are only 184 watts I believe, but I'll bet the 184 covers Sweethome and the area very well. I used to hear alot of TP/DU DX on 720, but not any of late other than Russia on occasion, but that is when KFIR is on lp at night. I used to hear DYOK Philippines often in the Fall. Re: [IRCA] 1490 KFIR 720
Hey Patrick, Only Russia, eh? hi. That's pretty cool. I checked out KFIR a little bit this evening while driving. It almost sounded like it was propagating. Weak, stronger, crummy, better, etc. Still in was in pretty good at times and like I said before, it was never in, with the exception of late H.S. football games. Right now at home, it's 50-50 with KDWN which is entirely unusual from what I'm used to. Basically, both are not in well. 73- Doug On Sep 10, 2007, at 8:33 PM, Patrick Martin wrote: Doug, KFIR has done something. That is for sure.
