Re: [IRCA] 1575 Radio Farda
Hi Walt and Nick, Welcome back to the frozen zone, Walt, and it's great to have you back here at the dials again. Like Nick says, tonight's TA's have an amazing ability to fade out whenever a promising carrier appears, and one finally reaches audio level. Yesterday evening 1575-Farda's signal was up and down here (peaking at around 0145 UTC), usually collapsing on cue when an MP3 recording was attempted. 1134-Croatia also had weak, capricious audio at times here tonight. 73, Gary In a message dated 12/7/2009 7:57:32 P.M. Right you are, Glenn! By the way, the last time that I heard them, they played a Michael Jackson number followed immediately by (I swear to you) some Farsi rap music. I'm sorry that I didn't message you at the time as that play list sounds right up your alley! Maybe you could check the web audio that Jim mentions. [IRCA] 1575-Radio Farda-- West Coast Ultralight Radio Audio MP3 (0158)
Hello Dennis, Walt, and Others, Radio Farda-1575 played hide-and -seek with my modified ULR, 7.5' tuned passive loop and MP3 recorder in the frozen back yard for quite a while, but finally peaked with Arabic pop music around 0158, providing the best recording I've ever been able to make of this mega-TA station on a ULR. Knowing very well that the East Coast DXers must be highly amused at our excitement over this big gun TA, here is the recording on the modified C.Crane SWP ultralight (7.5" Slider loopstick + CFJ455K5 IF filter), inductively coupled to an experimental 7.5' (side) PVC-frame tuned passive loop: _http://www.mediafire.com/?jji22kjj0q1_ (http://www.mediafire.com/?jji22kjj0q1) Dennis, I'm happy that you have an S9 signal on 1575-- you might also try for 1134-Croatia, which also had decent audio here this evening on the ULR. 73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA USA) ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Highly amused? No sign of it here. Though I have heard it before. Even with great conditions this fall I've only had audio on it once. Usually just a het, though the het does arrive early in the afternoon/evening. Re: [IRCA] 1575-Radio Farda-- West Coast Ultralight Radio Audio MP3(0158)
Thanks Jim, We do tend to get pretty excited here on the west coast when the common TA's show up at good strength, which doesn't happen on too many days of the year. Maybe it's a little like the east coast DXers' challenge of receiving common TP's like 747-JOIB and 774-JOUB, which seem even tougher to you guys than our challenge of receiving the "big gun" TA's. As usual, the farther north on the coastline the DXer lives, the easier it seems to be in both situations. 73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA) In a message dated 12/11/2009 9:03:40 P.M.
