Re: [IRCA] 1710 Pirate(?)
Upon further review, it might be a TIS. I'll keep listening and get back. Sorry for jumping the gun. Audible in Albany, NY with political talk with historical dates--1787, 1861, etc. Fighting it out with presumed R. Soleil. If this is a Part 15 station, it's getting out really well. [IRCA] 1710 Pirate Radio Boston
Had shut down the computer and taken the ultralight for a brief break while much of my extended family is here at Burnt River, when noted Pirate Radio Boston. I see others have heard it tonight. 1710. New here. Re: [IRCA] 1710 "Pirate Radio Boston" 0230 UTC
I hear them at my QTH about 45 miles north of NYC. Some QSB as they flutter in and out of the other melee on this frequency. This sounds like the same station I heard on the night of December 1. Sounds very much like a stereotypical pirate - young male ranting, bad rock and roll, lots of nudge nudge. I'm using a Sony ICF-SW7600GR bare back, so they must be getting out pretty well. Poor to fair over/under Radio Celestial, best in upper sideband to avoid the 1700 splatter. Music and banter between two announcers, reading reception reports sent in from various DXers, seems to be the same holiday program that's been widely reported on 1720 and various shortwave frequencies during the Christmas holiday. 73, Tim Tromp West Michigan ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] 1710 Pirate
Pirate heard on 1710 AM at 0815 pm ELT 0115 UTC 1 Dec / 2 Dec 2013. Two guys calling themselves Radio Free (mumbles). Music was distorted metal appropriate to teenage polar bears. In noise along with the usual suspects on 1710 while driving by Danbury, CT on I-84. Coming in via skywave with reasonable QSB. Re: [IRCA] 1710 pirate again
Steve, Not hearing anything on 1710 here in Salmon Creek. That oldies format sounds a lot better than the programming on the radio stations that are in this area. I have to tune 640 KFI and listen to Bill Handle for stimulating radio. Maybe this oldies station can plug my GE super radio when I place it on eBay soon. Signal has little fading but not a great signal, maybe 80-90% understanding it. Mostly plays 60's oldies with occasional very short voice into the next song. Occasional humorous ads, possibly old original ads. One that played several times about buying a GE Superradio on eBay (since it's no longer being made) since that radio is good for superior AM reception. Another humorous ad about a lady with very large feet who needs to find "mens's brown loafers in size 11" to fit her feet. Maybe eventually someone else will hear this and can give some more input about where it might come from. Mid west or west coast, since little fading on the signal? Best on my E/W longwire. 73, Steve NE Oregon ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

[IRCA] 1710 pirate?
Checking 1710 before bed, a station playing nonstop oldies, R&R, with fading but good on peaks. Several songs so far, nonstop. Just missed the TOH check, not staying up. 0805-0812 listened. Audio is very good, for a presumed pirate. Nothing heard for Puget Sound station.
