(7'x24' Conti superloop pointed 320 degrees, RTL-SDR dongle with upconverter, coverage up to 1400kHz)
In contrast to many other reports, this morning was unusually good for me! T-storm threat kept me from leaving an antenna out yesterday morning, but this morning I did a long SDR recording. As has been normal this month, I had a double peaked morning with audio from Japan already by 0936UT (2:36 MST), and more audio closer to my local 1312UT (6:12 MST) sunrise. Korean 972 was the star of the show, delivering some fairly decent audio around 1300UT. I usually break up these long SDR files into 15-20 minute chunks, and I rapidly scanned through to judge the best signals in each 20 minute period this morning. This vividly shows the timing pattern. I also put up a recording of 972 at my blog, along with a version of this log: https://azswdxing.wordpress.com/2015/09/16/log-am-bcb-september-15th-trans-pacific-reception/ 0935-0955 Weak audio: 747 and 774 around 0936-0938 Strong carriers: 594, 693 Medium carriers: 828, 1053, 1134 0955-1015 Strong carriers: 693, 774, 1053 Medium carriers: 594, 747, 828, 1134 1015-1035 Medium carriers: 594, 693, 747, 774, 828 1035-1055 Medium carriers: 693, 774, 828 1115-1135 Medium carriers: 594, 693, 774, 828, 1053 1135-1155 Medium carriers: 693, 774, 828, 1053 1155-1215 Strong carriers: 774 Medium carriers: 693, 828, 972, 1053, 1134 1215-1235 Weak audio: 972 from 1215-1219UT Strong carriers: 774, 828 Medium carriers: 747, 1053, 1134 1235-1255 Medium audio: 972 from 1247-1250UT (other bursts of weak audio) Weak audio: 774 at 1251UT, 828 at 1239UT Strong carriers: 747, 972 (near audio at 1254UT) 1255-1315 Medium audio: 972 from 1255-1259UT, rather decent around 1258UT, mix of talking and music Weak audio: 774 at 1258UT, 972 continuing until 1304UT including 3+1 TOH pips Strong carriers: 693, 1053 Medium carriers: 594, 747, 828, 864, 936, 945, 954, 963, 1008, 1044 1315-1335 A few lingering medium carriers after local sunset, inc. 828, 974 Brian Rachford - Prescott, AZ azswdx...@gmail.com http://azswdxing.wordpress.com/ _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
