Kaz, For some reason, KHQN was not in my logbook. It seems I have never logged them, or at least I have no record of it. That is strange, as the station goes back to at least the 60s or 70s when the dial was more open and they were a 1 KW daytimer. Strange I did not have them. The same was true about WGY. I had no record of ever logging them in AK or OR until the 90s, when I nabbed them. Mike, Considering the distance, So Cal is generally not all that good here except for the powerhouses like KFI or KNX and even those are 1/4 the signal stations like KNBR or KGO. Anytime I get a new regional it is very exciting. A GYer is even more rare. LA/ San Diego is close to 1,000 miles from here. Now to try and get a QSL. 73, Patrick Patrick Martin Seaside Oregon "Come visit us for the 2010 IRCA convention held Sept 24-26 at the Inn At Seaside." ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Re: [IRCA] DX Tip for WDXR
Walt, The tip also goes to Nancy (WDXR) and the IRCA has always used Eastern Time for domestic tips. We have discussed that many times within the club as some of us, myself included would like to move everything to UTC. But the domestic DXers are for leaving things as they are. So for DXWW-West and DXWW-East we use UTC, for Domestic DX it is the Eastern. 73, Patrick. 1220 WP?? UNID station here with ID at 0059.55 EST 1/31. After another Unid station said "We're Number One!", a weak signal with a woman announcer said "WP??News. and ???" Then lost in the jumble. I listened back to the cassette with EQ and 4 different sets of headphones. Whatever it was, it was a goodie! But knowing the beverage and the way signals pop in and out, it is doubtfull I will hear it again. Often, I hear these flea power distant stations once and on occasion one will pop in strong enough at TOH ID to catch it. 1220 is a jumble of a dozen or more of signals most nights. KQDJ is on 101.1 licensed to Valley City and KQDJ 1400 is licensed to Jamestown. You could've heard "KOVC", or "KDAK" as I know KOVC, KDAK and KDDR do sometimes simulcast on all 3 signals.
