[IRCA] early TA

2017-03-18 Thread Nick Hall-Patch

0300UT, do you know where your TAs are?

Welll, there's touches of audio on 1215 in Victoria, but mostly
imaginary amid the splatter, followed by a dive, then fading
back. 1089 just a fair carrier, couple of other near imaginary
ones. Hmmm, 1386 is there, about 20 Hertz low. Any ideas there?

See what develops?

best wishes,

Nick

[IRCA] Early TA signs

2007-11-06 Thread Nigel Pimblett
With the extended period with a K of 0 tonight should have (in theory
anyhow) a good chance of producing some TAs. A few early signs here,
with carriers on 1575, 1548, 1539, 1521, 1494, 1377, 1269, 1215, 1134,
and 1089 noted. Some of them quite strong at times. Possible traces
of audio from 1548 just after 0100.

1575 in other years was heard regularly late most afternoons/early evenings
on the west coast. So far this year, I've yet to hear them. A/K indices
are 0/0 at the moment, or at least were (0/1 now). Hasn't helped us yet on
the west coast at 00:49 UTC/16:49 local. I can just see the 1575 tracing.
Pretty strong trace on 1215. Nothing else I can see at the

2008-11-14 Thread Nigel Pimblett
Looked very promising here at sunset @2345, with carriers all over the
band, many quite strong, but as has been the case quite often this
season, things took a dive after sunset. They did come back to a
degree, and Croatia has had a very impressive signal at times (and
inaudible at others). No other signal even close to 1134, but I have
noted audio ranging from very weak to fair on 675, 693, 1008, 1089
(seemed Russian rather than UK), 1107, 1116, and 1485. I did note one
carrier a fair way off channel on 1107.12, about even in strength with
someone on 1107.Things may not have lived up to the early promise,
but an interesting evening none the less.

The early promise hasn't been followed up by much more here. More
carriers than earlier, but none terribly strong, other than 1215 which
at times sounds like it should have good audio, but hasn't yet.

[IRCA] early TA hets on car radio

2017-11-09 Thread Mark Connelly via IRCA
--- Begin Message ---
At 3 p.m. EST (2000 UTC) as I was pulling out of the Market Basket store in
Bourne, MA, I popped up 730 WJTO, a station I regularly tune for Bob Bittner's
unique twist on oldies / nostalgia. Besides some back chatter from WACE's fire
'n' brimstone preacher (via early skip), there was a 1 kHz het, most likely
from 729 Spain (though South Africa would be more interesting).

Other spots on the dial had hets too, of course the 1521 Saudi biggie against
1520 WIZZ/WWKB and 1503 (Iran maybe) against 1500 WFED/WFIF.

Sunset is about 4:25 p.m. EST / 2125 UTC.

I am running 4, 5, and 6 p.m. Perseus captures to see if anything worthwhile
bubbles up.

Wondering if things will swing auroral since talk on the local TV weather
showed Northern Lights pictures from last night, I think from Mt. Washington,
NH.
