[IRCA] Early evening TAs
Jim Renfrew, Holley NY 1940 - 2000 EST, DEC 18 567RTEMusic 774Strong het buzz, probably Spain and Egypt. DX Tuners had a mush of both. I'd think the RNE engineers would be happy to provide some free technical service to Egypt. The het must wreck their fringe signal. 819Strong het, Egypt I think, but hard to separate from 820 domestics and Cuba. I'd like to ge tthis one! 855RNE1Man and woman speaking // DX Tuners audio - this used to be one of the top three TAs here, but now rare for some reason. 945Francevocal music // DX Tuners audio 1134Croatia woman speaking between music selections, very good over IBOC 1251Strong het, no audio 1512Threshhold audio 1521Saudi Arabia - man speaking ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] Early evening TAs in NE Oregon plus beacon 529 LYQ, TN
Good TA indications began just before sunset, with 198 BBC with poor/weak audio already at 0155 utc, still with some daylight here. Quickly tuning to 1215 had a brief fadeup of pop music to weak level, 0157 utc. Many MW hets from the bottom of the band up to 1500 kHz or so. 198 rose to weak level with a talk show at 0211 utc. Even 164 Mongolia had a weak het for a short time. So far, to 0330 utc, 153 poor with music; 162 weak with pop music; 171 poor with vocal music; 180 has medium hiss--does DRM produce IBOC-like hiss?; 189 weak/medium playing Billy Joel singing Honesty at 0244 utc; 198 now at weak/medium level, 0244 utc; 207 weak with classical flute music, 0217 utc; 225 poor/weak with some type of vocal folk music; 234 poor/weak with male/female talk; 252 also has medium hiss, along with poor talk--more DRM?; 1089 poor with talk, 0253 utc; 1134 poor/weak with vocal music; 1017 poor with talk, 0301 utc. Not expecting to hear anything, tuning to 528 with 250Hz IF filter in CW mode, I was surprised to hear beacon LYQ in Tennessee at weak level, 0306 utc. It had 15 second fadeups to weak level, then would fade down, then fade back up a minute or two later, good enough to record. So it's making it to Oregon, and very early in the evening for hearing east coast beacons here.
