[IRCA] Farda-1575 on the west coast?

2010-12-05 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
Further to Nigel's recent description of conditionsdid anyone on the west
coast hear R. Farda last night?

I'm on Gabriola Island for the weekend, and an ALA100 pointing pretty much due
north has appeared of course, not far from an open stretch of Georgia Strait.
Farda was heard for awhile last evening with weak audio here...but I didn't see
any other reportsmaybe just because it wasn't that good, or maybe the audio
didn't make it anywhere else...

Heard CJWW-600 at local noon, also, so it might be a good place to return to.

best wishes,

Nick

2008-11-07 Thread Patrick Martin
Walt,

In checking further, I see listed a powerful German on 1575 running VoR
also. I will try again Friday and see if I can pull more audio out of
it. the music seemed "Dance techno" stuff with a male ancr, but I really
could not tell much more. But the carrier came up quite nicely. I lost
it around 0800 UTC, which seemed late for any TA. Norway 1314 used to be
in that late, but a lot farther North.

Walt,

Opps, I did not catch that the time difference. I was thinking Europe,
not realizing UAE, a lot farther to the East. You are right! Infact I
heard this until about 0800 UTC. I'll take Spain, if that. Never heard
it here. Portugal, but never Spain. But it never got beyond threshold.
I'll keep trying. I even tried the SPR4 and it was about the same on
that. Thanks.

Patrick, somehow that makes no sense. At 05:15, the UAE has been in daylight
for many hours. Have a look at GeoClock, or even something like the DX Edge.
Simply should not be propagating through so much daylight. When I hear them,
it's always late during our afternoons, or early evening at the latest. It's
easy to follow Farda via the internet stream, and characteristic modern music.
At this time of the night, it's more likely to be Spain...Walt
