Good Evening,

Radio Farda 1575 very weak with music coming through
at times. Now fair at 0224 utc with woman singing
Arab music. Signal is familiar to HLAZ good carrier,
but low audio.

Colin, Nick and All,

A strong carrier from Farda-1575 was received on the 30" loopstick
ICF-2010 here at 0125 UTC, with null bearing very close to zero degrees.
Almost
within audio range, but 1575 is a rough frequency here, with locals on 1560
and 1580, so probably won't make it.

Crikey! In the clear at 0100 with middle-eastern music (Big bass too!)
Recorded snippets on the Eton E1 BAREFOOT! Yikes.
Is better in the E1 than on the Drake R8 Wellbrook duo -

1215 is not so bad either.

1st time I have ever heard 1575.

E100 Slider yielded audio on 1134.

Now I am really impressed.

Current tally for carriers:
531, 612, 621, 639, 756, 774 (X2), 828, 846, 855 (!), 1017, 1089, 1134 (++)
as of about 0130 UTC

Call me impressed - Audio on 1134 was clearly slavic and the Middle Eastern
music on 1575 was unmistakable -

Funny - have not left work yet and I was beginning to wonder what
conditions were like -

I should reset my car radio to 9Khz EURO and see what I can pick
up during the 7 minute commute from the campus to home. :-)

Or I can wait...

Thanks!

[IRCA] Farda on the west coast

2009-01-22 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
R. Farda-1575 creeping through with weak audio leading the webstream by about
15 seconds from before UT. Although most of the music is Middle Eastern,
they just played "Those Were the Days My Friend" at 0016. Carrier has been
around since at least 2315.

Best other carrier at the moment is 1539. No Faeroes-531, hi.

best wishes,

Nick
