[IRCA] KBRW-680 QSL

2009-10-13 Thread Bruce Portzer

Yesterday, I received a QSL from a long sought DX target.

KBRW sent a friendly e-mail reply to e-mail report + audio file in less
than a day. V/s Mike Lane, GM said he tried DXing when he first arrived
in Barrow 30+ years ago, but the only station he could regularly hear
was WLW (in addition to unid Asians).

I've uploaded the audio clip in case anyone wants to hear it
http://home.comcast.net/~bportzer/KBRW-680_0900_10-3-09.mp3

This was at Grayland on October 3. I'm still amazed at how well KBRW
made it through KNBR

Bruce,

Congrats! I am glad they are still DXer friendly. I got a verie letter
last year. They are a toughie to log. If it wasn't for KNBR, I am sure
KBRW would be more common.
Great going Bruce!

Hi, Bruce. Congratulations on the KBRW QSL. I ought to do the same from my
end. I spent quite a few years trying to hear them before I finally did (on
Dec 31st, 2007 of all days!), and then not again until this time up in Masset
last weekend, and over several days too. Perhaps it's getting a little easier
for us to hear. I've had a few tentative loggings in Grayland as well, with
there long bouts of NPR programming, but no IDs. Still, always a great catch
from the lower 48. Funny how it's considered a nuisance in Scandinavia,
though! Walt.

Walt,

I remember back 15 or so years ago when Bob interviewed the CE at KBRW
for Radio World, he mentioned KBRW was heard often in Northern Europe,
but never got a report from the lower 48. well they have gotten at least
two now. hi.
