KNX 1070 comes in Redding, CA pretty well each night..this a slightly above average signal. It's way better then any other LA station in terms of night reception here. [IRCA] KDUN 1030 (OR) finally logged in IL
I'm still going over Perseus recordings from the very fine early Feb SSS cx and on Feb 2 at about 1927 CST a 50's type oldies song was noted mixing with the remains of WBZ (back nulled about 25 to 30 dB) and then another old oldie and then I thought the man said K-Dune at the end of something jumbled and into a medical oriented ad and then the gal clearly said Reedsport Medical Clinic at 1931. Finally in the log book after what must've been 100 tries in very good SSS cx during the past decade. I am of the opinion that I should be able to log all stns that run 50 kw ND in the US mainland but still no luck with Cal ESPN on 710 or Cal ESPD on 860. Midband cx were good to west coast at the time..CKST often over WHO !! 1130 Vancouver and OR's Russian stn mixed in. 1080 ESPN Portand good. Sacto 1140 local sx pounding WRVA etc. My earlier 1800 capture on the 180 deg antenna was also superb with TX all over the dial and new KJME 1370 near Austin logged. Dennis, I have not checked to see if KLFE runs SS these days. Ventura CA and Reno NV are SS. Reno is heard here often at LSS in the past. KLFE is Russian generally when I have heard them. While driving around town today KDUN 1030 Reedsport, OR was heard with a good signal at times. Time was 12:45-1:09 PM PST. Oldies with a local DJ and news at the top of the hour. Was surprised with the strength of KDUN signal on the Ford Escape radio. At 4:45 PM PST there in with talk about the current Oregon crab season. Soon covered by Dave Ramsey on KTWO and KMAS in Sheldon, WA. Dennis, Glad you heard KDUN. I am a bit surprised they don't get out better. But I do remember back in living in Portland in the 70s, the coast was not all that strong. Pat, KMBD 1590 was also heard on the Escape radio. Their the dominate station on 1590 here on the home radio during the day. Though today in the Escape a Spanish speaking station was over KMBD at times. Could this be KLFE? It doesn't seem like IBOC will ever be turned off. It's still going strong here in the Denver metro area with 16 of 25 stations carrying it. Local 810 which turned IBOC off at night now keeps it on. I went to the Los Angeles area last week on a business trip. It was refreshing to be in a much more DX-friendly RF environment. 73. Bill, There is a lot of activity in the West on 1030 too. Probably the same reason I have never heard 1550 Tucson up here either. With all of the West Coast loggings in the East with the low A/K, you might give a shot to KDUN-1030-Reedsport, OR. With run 50 KW ND days and 630w also ND nights. KAZ has been trying for it, and they have been very strong within a 1/2 hour of our LSS running in the neighbor of S9+40 DB! Splatter city on 1020/1040. Almost local like at 200 miles down the coast. Format is Oldies rock for the most part with a few older Adult Standards tossed in. I tuned past 1030 last night during this time frame, when I could catch them via SSS on 50 kw ND but as always never a trace. WHO IBOC doesn't make it any easier. Greetings everyone, While tuning around this afternoon, KDUN Reedsport is back on the air with Old Rock 50s/60s. Just as strong as in the past at S7 days. Presume they are using the 50 KW. Reedssport is 200 miles South of me. So far no ID caught, just back to back music. Maybe a test? In checking 1030 today, no sign of KDUN as yet. Off the SW EWE, I get a good null on KMAS Shelton WA(NE), with a signal of S1 (barely there). Well, the sale hasn't closed yet.. and wont for another 60 to 90 days. I don't expect the signal back on so soon. It doesn't look like there is any sort of Lease in place for the new owners to operate the radio station before closing, so i doubt the signal would come on until the closing, but I could be wrong. What looks like a husband and wife from Spokane, Washington bought the entire facility for $150,000! It's off the air now under a Special Temporary Authority, but I would think, under new owners, it'll come back on the air soon!
