[IRCA] KQQZ-1190 AM

2015-08-08 Thread Steve Ponder

~~~
Sounds like KQQZ-1190 in DeSoto, MO, is on their daytime power. They are
putting a monster signal into the southeast Houston area this morning. Music
format is classic country-western. I've heard various slogans like 1190 KQQZ,
The Patriot 1190 KQQZ, and just KQQZ. They had a legal TOH ID at 0300 AM
CDT, but I couldn't write it down quick enough.
[IRCA] KQQZ
2015-04-10 Thread Nigel Pimblett
Hi all,
I heard KQQZ for the first time last night at 0600 UTC (1:00 am
their time).   I'm strongly suspecting they were on day power (to get
through CFSL is an accomplishment), but I see they do have  a CP for
somewhat more power at night (and a move to an IL Community of License).
  Does anyone know if that has happened yet, so I know whether to count
it as MO or IL?
Thanks,
Nigel Pimblett
This is an interesting situation because it usually doesn't matter when the
license to cover is granted. I'll look for it in the FCC Daily Digest. They're
usually there not long afterward but don't appear in the FCC database for quite
some time.
I'm with Steve on this one, Nigel.  The FCC database shows KQQZ as still
licensed to DeSoto, MO, so that's what I'd go with.  And yes, they sure sound
like they're on 10 KW non-stop.  I have a local on 1180 and if I null them out,
then tune up to 1190 and hit the USB button on the ol' Kenwood R-5000, I get
KQQZ pretty strong.  I'm thinking that during the station tour of WOWO in July
-- and I assume there WILL be one forthcoming! -- this ought to be mentioned to
their engineer(s), who, in turn, might contact the FCC to have some action
Radio locator at one the me showed their CP facilities that showed their
pattern to go due north at night. It was under that assumption that I'd
thought they were on their new facilities. Then if what others are saying
no, then their current pattern favors the SW greatly. So vased on the
signal strength that I hear them I would gather they are running 10kw ND at
nights or new night power? Regardless they are dominate all the time at
night.
2015-04-10 Thread Dennis Gibson
Radio-locator uses the word pattern but their maps are predicted coverage
areas, which aren't the same thing. The patterns in the FCC database and
FCCInfo.com are what are licensed or granted in a construction permit.
http://fccinfo.com/CMDProFacLookup.php?sCurrentService=AMsFacilityID=5281tabSearchType=Faci
The construction permit isn't on radio-locator. That doesn't mean anything.
[IRCA] KQQZ-Call Letter Change
2009-12-31 Thread Kirk Allen
Earlier tonight I ran across a sta on 1190 that had me perplexed for a while,
just like Rob's logging of a different sta on the same channel recently. This
one turned out to be a call letter change as detailed below. Logged on SRF-59
barefoot.
1190, KQQZ, De Soto/St. Louis, MO, 0026-0330 UTC, 12/31/09, playing classic CW
mx, many of them back to back. IDs were The all new KQQZ 1190 and Cool killer
country KQQZ... The call ltrs are very hard to understand on the air and
sounded more like KQUV at best. They also play a jingle that was uncopiable
here, but online they sing, 1190, KQQZ. Several ads were hrd, and they feature
brief CNN Nxcasts a little before the TOH. This is a call letter and format
change from the former KRFT. They do have streaming audio online at:
http://kqqz1190am.com/streaming.htm
The best info I've found online so far states this:
Entertainment Media Trust d/b/a Insane Broadcasting Co. has completed its
purchase of KRFT 1190 AM DeSoto/St. Louis from Big League Broadcasting. On
Saturday, the station flipped from Sports Talk programming to a Classic Country
format with the new calls KQQZ, simulcasting sister station 1510 AM in Highland,
IL, which has switched call letters from WXOZ to WQQW. 1190 has a huge 10kW
Daytime signal that can heard 150+ Miles to the South and Southwest of St.
Louis. They broadcast currently at flea power at night, however, they have a
Construction Permit for 6.5kW from a seperate tower site, and a new City of
License of University City. Online streaming is already available at
kqqz1190am.com. Running jockless, with CNN News at :55 past the hour. The mix
of music they are playing is very broad, with even a few currents mixed in.
That's all from here guys and gals. Happy New Year!
