I wonder which of us recorded DX onto a wax cylinder? On Dec 27, 2007 3:46 PM, Patrick Martin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > How about a Wire Recorder? Re: [IRCA] Michigan IBOC on SRF-59
Hey, I still use cassette for my DX. I dub onto CD to send the report out though. I have reel to reel (3 machines). I don't use them much as they need cleaning. How about a Wire Recorder? I had one of those back in the 60s. Re: [IRCA] Michigan IBOC on SRF-59
Cassette? How about a reel-to-reel? I recorded a few stations on reel-to-reel in the early 1970's. I think they may no longer exist. If they exist, they are at my folks place. Karl J. Re: [IRCA] Michigan IBOC on SRF-59
Karl, Happy Holidays to you and your family too. With your comment on "XM", you hit the nail on the head. That is where a lot of listeners are going, Sirius and XM, not IBOC. I wonder how many listeners stations have lost because of IBOC hash? Also I am sure there is some lost revenue too. 73, Patrick Patrick Martin KAVT Reception Manager ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] Michigan IBOC on SRF-59
Fellow Ircans: I am vacationing in Michigan listening with a SRF-59. I like to listen to WBZ Boston on 1030. With KDKA and WHO both blowing IBOC smoke, along with WBZ's IBOC, you have one big racket in this part of the woods. What a mess. You try to get used to the noise, but it's not easy. It sounds like a very under-recorded cassette tape. (Don't I sound old! What's a cassette?) But, amazingly, I can hold WBZ until well after 8am phasing out a local on 1030 with just the SRF-59. No phasing loops or antennas needed. I had another SRF-59 before I received an XM MiFi going back to about 2003. My old SRF-59 did not work half this good and the tuning capacitor eventually wore out. The plastic sheeting between the rotor blades wore out and created a short. I have been a huge XM fan ever since. As much as I love to DX, I listen nearly continually to XM - or - to BBC Radio Scotland or Ireland's RTE1 on the Internet rebroadcast onto FM to cover my house.
