[IRCA] New station heard
Jim Renfrew, Clarendon NY APR 2 2017 1160 WOBM NJ Lakewood Township - ID in the mess mentions "1160 and 1310". WSKW seems to be the dominant station with "Classic Country", and also WCCS "1160 and 101.1" Not sure of the WOBM format, seems to be talk. I've heard WOBM so many times in Newfoundland that I figured I'd heard it many times at home, too. My logbook doesn't lie - it's new here. I remember when there were only TWO US stations on 1160 - Utah and Chicago. [IRCA] New station heard 4/4/12
4/4/12 1200UTC XEVU, Mazatlán, Sinoloa MEX (1 kW @ 1696 km / 1054 mi), heard with poor signal on barefoot Sony SRF-T615. Program content was the national anthem of México at 1200, anthem of Sinaloa at 1202, and música banda at 1205. Signal faded away under XEDE at 1212. No announcement was heard, so ID is based on the station broadcasting el himno del Estado de Sinaloa at 1202-1205 UTC. Using a Tecsun PL-360 and DeBock 7.5-inch ferrite loop, I could hear a barely audible signal under XEDE and WGN QRM at 1213-1223. Ultralight station #994 (barefoot #983) and Mexico #178. Correction to my earlier mention about daylight saving time in México starting 4/1/12. The state of Sonora, like Arizona, did not change and remains on Mountain Standard Time. Buena DX. Richard. That 10k should get out well, and I bet the antenna is way high. Hey All, Was using my dx-398 the other night during a snow storm and snagged ckvi on 900 khz. Also got 1590 kvgb from great bend ks. as well. 1430 KEZW Aurora CO, 4:03 PM PST tuned in and nulled semi-local KMRB and heard news read by a woman, mention of Colorado. Then weather and a nice KEZW ID. Quickly faded to KMRB. I was expecting to hear KLO but this was a pleasant surprise. I think 1430 KEZW still carries Broadways Biggest Hits, I just don't remember which daypart. 'Used to be on 1260//540 in L.A. area but no more. Show originated at KOY Phoenix and they still have it. I only heard them for a couple minutes but I might try a reception report since I think it's a rare catch. Their website is www.studio1430.com. QIP lists v/s from 2002 was Rick Crandall, Stn Mgr, and he's still there. I did hear KLO about 4:21 PM with Michael Savage. Too much KMRB for a good report. I'll have to try again. I haven't had much luck with CO veries, only 3/8 with reports to all I've heard except KEZW.
