Re: [IRCA] Recent captures
The 1480 and 1240, 1390, 1490 are really impressive... I'm thinking that you mean 25-degree arc? Not at all easy to pull out those class C / locals... and I think you have a class D (1480?) or two also... OMG... -30- So... That All-Star game is flooded out? I'm guessing you are having too much fun. -30- Beverage report... a few hours ago, Jody and I were watching a storm come in from our West deck... Lightning hit in the back field about 200 feet West of the N/S Beverage, and 200-feet South of the East West antenna... and I think landed 200-feet East of the temporary N/S Beverage on Ground. I had just determined to put off removing the BOG (we might get hay cut first time in 5-years, so it needs to be removed before someone tries to cut and hits a ground rod) in favor of better weather... The Beverages have 100 mA (3AG series) fuses between the antenna wire and the matching networks... and the Beverage building has the same fuses to feed phone and control and stuff out there... When the fireworks calmed down, I looked at the fuses in the basement (intact) and turned on the radio that was connected... and then hit the remote control to pull in switching relays... everything worked as if nothing had happened... really would have thought the EMP would have zworked something... maybe there is a line or two open... Really cool balls of ionized air hanging in the column for a fraction of a second after the hit (a single hit) and puff of smoke where it hit. Lots of rabbits out there, so who knows... Re: [IRCA] Recent captures
This reminds me. I have a bandscan from west central Minnesota to post on here sometime. It's from my family's old vacation spot where we rented a resort cabin on the north side of Otter Tail Lake for a week every July from the early 1970s until 1984. The bandscan was done when I made a return visit to there on August 4, 1990. Re: [IRCA] Recent captures
Nice list of stations with a mix of sunset skip catches in there. Did you happen to take an 11 pm or midnight recording? 11 pm CDT is even a bit early this time of the year for Seattle to come in, but by midnight everything should be on night rig and paths of darkness should be open into WA/BC etc and it would be interesting to see what you could get from there, this time of the year overnight. Of course, that antenna at that remote MN QTH would rock towards the Pac NW for sunset skip in late Sept or late Oct. 73 KAZ Barrington IL -Original Message- >From: Mark Durenberger Mobile >Sent: Jun 21, 2014 9:23 AM >To: "@NRC DX" , DX-IRCA , MNDXC >, WTFDA-AM , Mike Shafer >, Skip-Home Erickson , Fred-ARRL >Baumgartner >Subject: [IRCA] Recent captures > >With the great "D-Kaz' Double-Delta oriented about 330 degrees at GS EN25, >these IDs are from an SDR recording, at 9PM and 10PM CDT---060714 > >Mark Durenberger >On the Road > >(Locals, "obvious signals" and "most U.S. Clears" are omitted) > >550KFYR Bismarck ND--300mi; 5 kw* >600KSJB Jamestown ND--210mi; 5 kw* >610KDAL Duluth MN--140mi; 5 kw >650WNMTNashwauk MN--130mi; 1 kw >680CJOB Winnipeg MB CA--300mi; 50 kw >690CKGMMontreal QC CA--1050mi; 50 kw >710KXMRBismarck ND--300mi; 4 kw* >730CKDMDauphin MB--450mi; 10 kw >740KVOX Fargo ND--130mi; 940 watts* >740CHWO Toronto ON CA--760mi; 50 kw >790KFGO Fargo ND--130mi; 5 kw* >820CHAMHamilton ON CA--750mi; 10 kw >860CBKF-2Saskatoon SK CA--700mi; 10 kw >880CKLQ Brandon MB CA--375mi; 10 kw >890KQLS Lisbon ND--150mi; 1800 w >900CHMLHamilton ON CA--750mi; 50 kw >910KCJB Minot ND--360mi; 5 kw* >920CFRYPortage La Prairie MB CA--335mi; 25 kw >930KSDNAberdeen SD--190mi; 1 kw >940CJGXYorkton SK CA--520mi; 50 kw >950CFAMAltona MB CA--265mi; 10 kw >970WDAYFargo ND--130mi; 10 kw* >980CJMERegina SK CA--560mi; 10 kw >990CBWWinnipeg MB CA--300mi; 46 kw >1000 KXRBSioux Falls SD--190mi; 10 kw >1010 CFRB!!Toronto ON CA--760mi; 50 kw >1020 KJJK Fergus Falls MN--80mi; 370 w* >1050 KLOHPipestone MN--150mi; 432 w >1060 KGFXPierre SD--285mi; 1 kw >1080 KNDKLangdon ND--275mi; 1 kw >1090 KTGOTioga ND--440mi; 1100 w >1130 KBMRBismarck ND--300mi; 10 kw >1140 KSOOSioux Falls SD--190mi; 10 kw >1190 CFSL Weyburn SK CA--510mi; 10 kw >1210 KOKKHuron SD--205mi; 5 kw >1220 KDDROakes ND--175mi; 1 kw >1230 KMRSMorris MN--70mi; 1 kw >1240 KDLRDevil's Lake ND--260mi; 1 kw >1250 KBRFFergus Falls MN--80mi; 2200 w* >1260 KROXCrookston MN--170mi; 1 kw >1280 KVXRFargo ND--120mi; 5 kw* >1280 WNAM!!Neenah-Menasha WI--320mi; 5 kw >1290 CFRWWinnipeg MB CA--300mi; 10 kw >1300 KPMI Bemidji MN--120mi; 600 w* >1310 KNOXGrand Forks ND--190mi; 5 kw* >1320 KOZYGrand Rapids MN--115mi; 5 kw* >1320 KHRTMinot ND--360mi; 2500 w >1340 KVBRBrainerd MN--45mi; 1 kw >1350 KDIOOrtonville MN--100mi; 670 w >1360 KKBJBemidji MN--120mi; 2500 w* >1370 KWTLGrand Forks ND--190mi; 270 w >1380 KLIZ Brainerd MN--50mi; 5 kw* >1390 KRRZMinot ND--360mi; 1 kw >1410 KRWBRoseau MN!--210mi; 1 kw* >1410 KDKTBeulah ND--365mi; 1 kw >1430 KNSPStaples MN--45mi; 199 w >1440 KKXLGrand Forks ND--190mi; 300w >1450 KZZJ Rugby ND--305mi; 1 kw >1460 KKAQThief River Falls MN--175mi; 150 w >1480 KKCQFosston MN--135mi; 90 w >1490 KOVCValley City ND--180mi; 1 kw >1560 KKAAAberdeen SD--190mi; 10 kw* >1570 KAKKWalker MN--90mi; 250 w > >Notes: Most IDs taken at 9 PM CDT before LSS in Central Minnesota >Except for 50 kw stations; nearly all signals fall within a 254 degree arc >Power levels with * indicate directional antennas with minimas toward us >This antenna WORKS! >___ >IRCA mailing list >IRCA@hard-core-dx.com >http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca > >Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original >contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its >editors, publishing staff, or officers > >For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org > >To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com > ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
