Oh, yeah, you're right. My mistake.

The PSY04 is a digitally tuned radio, quite different from the SRF-59/SRF-PSY03

For the SRF-PSY03 service manual try

I dont think Sony would go throug the trouble to design a
super chip just for cheap AM-FM radios, no money in them.
I am sure they have more in mind so it may be simple.
But odds are they are like TV micros that all have the same PN
but are programed different from the outside.
Since nobody checked already in a few days I will
go on Sony sevice to see if they have a manual. I
dont think they will but... I will need a volineer to post it.
I would do it now but I cant remember the pass word !!

Hate to throw cold water on what is essentially a generous offer and a good

Re: [IRCA] SRF-59 frequency control

2008-01-01 Thread Bruce Portzer
The SRF-59 manual can also be downloaded from Sony's website
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=SRF59

It seems like most major electronics manufacturers have soft versions of
operating manuals and other documentation available on their websites.

Sometimes it takes some effort to find it. The best bet is to go to the
home page, look for the search tool, and enter the model number. Or
look for links to the support page, or product description page, etc.
You may have to drill won through several layers of pages to find what
you want, but it's usually there some place.

I've looked through online user manuals/instructions several times
recently while shopping for electronics goodies. The product
descriptions are often vague as to an item's true capabilities, but
most manuals do a reasonably OK job at telling what it can or can't do.

As was already mentioned, the SERVICE manual (not merely the
operator's manual) for the SRF-59 can be downloaded here:
http://www.electronica.ro/service_manuals/sony/radio/srf-psy04/

Although the model number is different, it's essentially the same radio.

It would be great if we could modify the design of a SRF-59 to listen to other
