[IRCA] TAs in Alberta
TA carriers evident again tonight. Even had some audio on the rather unusual freq of 891 khz. Decent carriers on 1413,1386,1314,1251,1215,1179,1053(2), 981, 954, 864, 783 on a just completed scan. A couple of those are real close to audio too. Those further west might want to check things out this evening. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, AB ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Currently hearing audio from Radio Farda on 1575, and VOA on 1539, both for the first time this season. Snippets of audio on 1215, 1413 and 1458 also. Some early TAs by my standards with audio noted already on 1323, 1431, 1467 and 1548. Not strong by any means, but certainly a good sign. A little more life in the band than for the last few days, though nothing like the conditions of last week.Noted 27 carriers on a quick scan through the band, though only Croatia's 1134 had any audio - and it was ranging from quite good to nil. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, Alberta ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Just a quick alert to those of you further west - TAs are happening again. Not getting a lot of strong audio, but a fair number with lower level audio. Oddly, one of the strongest signals is the Koran on 1161, which I'm guessing is Iran, and not one I've ever logged before. For some reason Spain is doing particularly well on 738 tonight (I suppose I should say this afternoon), the most consistent channel of audio thus far. Spain also noted on 855 and 999, France on 1206, 945 and 1467, where TWR had a pretty good signal as they signed off at 2330. Absolute also good at times on 1215, and 1089 also from the UK pops up every now and again. 73, Nigel Pimblett Dunmore, AB Nigel Pimblett wrote: Some early TAs by my standards with audio noted already on 1323, 1431, 1467 and 1548. I did a quick bandscan just now (2100 LT) and had carriers on 855 864 909 1017 1134 1215 1377 and 1422. Most were weak except for 1215 & 1422, which had traces of audio. Further scanning revealed carriers on 1107, 1206(bits of audio), 891 (a surprise just 9 kHz from my strongest local), 837, & 693, plus presumed Tahiti-738. 1134 had decent audio at times, 1215 & 1377 had traces. Yes, 1161 is gone, but it was amazing soon after 0100. No luck with the 855 mystery here. It's only Spain I've been getting, and not a lot of that. I seem to be hearing different stuff than the guys out west tonight. I was amazed to hear some TA action on the even frequencies. Somone on 810 has been strong at times. Thought maybe it was the Winnipeg ethnic station until I heard them QRMing the mystery station. And at 0300 on 1530 I was amazed to hear bits of the VOA's Yankee Doodle theme coming through KFBK. Walt & Nigel, Thanks for the frequency listing of the stations your hearing tonight. It's very helpful to me. Did get a little audio on 675 a few minutes ago, but to weak to ID. Gary, 1134 Croatia is usually the first station heard with audio during TA conditions. Stopped on the channel and no audio was heard on 1134. Hi Dennis, I'm happy you received some audio on 675 kHz tonight. Back during one of the best October TA openings I did receive some brief audio (religious music) on 675 KHz from Radio Maria in Holland, but it certainly wasn't one of the stronger TA's. From what I understand, Radio Maria is the dominant TA station on 675 kHz (although I'm certainly no expert). 73, Gary In a message dated 12/11/2009 7:01:07 P.M.
