[IRCA] TAs on the west coast

2010-01-29 Thread Walter Salmaniw
As others have reported from central and eastern NA, the TAs are coming in. At
00:35 UTC (4:35 pm local), I'm hearing Absolute Radio on 1215 at a good level
at times, and also Farda on 1575. KOMO 1000 has a loud het from 999, and most
other channels 1 kHz from a North American also have audible hets. 1422 has
western sounding music, so not sure whether this is Germany or not. Fair
level. 864 with prob France Bleu at poor level, 855, 837, 783 all weak. 756
DLF at fair level. Although I haven't been too active lately, it still strikes
me as a relatively good start for the eveningWalt in Victoria, BC

A rather odd evening. Had some audio from the regulars when I first got
home around 0100 UTC, but then things faded. Now, I'm hearing only
carriers, with one exception - that being Iran in Russian on 702,
certainly not what I would normally expect.

Re: [IRCA] TAs on the west coast

2010-01-29 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
A frustrating evening for TAs, though much better than has been heard recently.
There was no audio much past the mumble level, there was a reasonable number
of those at one time or another:

675, 747, 756, 783, 855, 1134, 1215 and 1575

783 is the only channel that I don't have a good suspicion as to what it
was.

2009-11-16 Thread satya
Hi Nick/all:

Things stayed fairly tame and generally deteriorated here as well,
although 864-Paris came up for a while in order to // with their Web
stream, and 756-Deutschlandfunk was strong enough to almost // with the
web stream. 675, 693 and 1134 came and went throughout the night, 1215-UK
was up for a bit with music, and 963 (presumed Pori) again made a late
splash around 0600 UTC.

Impeccable timing, Walt. Up to about 0100 when I needed to abandon the radio,
1575 had a steady but uninspiring carrier, which it also has now (0245UT),
along with reasonable carriers on 783, 1134, 1215 and 1377. Things are pretty
erratic, so audio might still be possible.

Patrick, as is so often the case, I had lots of carriers, some of them pretty
strong, but precious few audios. Oh well, here in Victoria, TA audios come in
only a handful of times a year, and really well, perhaps once a year, and it

Really didn't develop any further here either. The number of carriers
peaked at about 40, some quite strong, but other than the regulars
1134 and 1215 producing a bit of audio every so often, the only audio I
heard was about 2 minutes on 1575.
It's an early work morning, so no dawn TPs for me today, but checking
the dials just now I hear a number of decent carriers, and audio on
1566, so hope it's a good AM for those that can listen.

Re: [IRCA] TAs from the west coast

2007-03-21 Thread Nigel Pimblett
I noted the same thing here. Things started out well, but as Walt said
things fell apart somewhere along the line. All I'm hearing now in the
way of carriers are weak ones on 1134, 1215, and 1017 (which could well
be Tonga rather than a TA).

1215 was providing audio around 02:40 UTC but now at 03:00 there's barely a
whisper. For what
it's worth, here's a list of audible hets so far (and most are 1 or 2s):

567, 675, 756, 765, 1053, 1089, 1107, 1134 (a 4), 1179, 1215, 1251, 1269,
1296, 1359, 1422, 1512 and 1521.

Re: [IRCA] TAs from the west coast

2007-03-21 Thread Nick Hall-Patch
1215 continues to be up and down w/audio bits at 0529, roughly
parallel to the Virgin R. web stream, which is delayed of course.

Had man talking briefly on 1512, possibly Belgium, and strong
carriers (possibly audio grumbles in the splash) on 567 and 1089

Other carriers, mostly much fainter, 639, 702, 711, 738, 747, 774,
864, 999, 1008, 1026, 1053, 1107, 1179, 1251, 1377, 1422 and 1467...

best wishes,

Nick
