[IRCA] TP's this morning
This would have been a very good morning at Grayland, judging from what I heard at home. Once again, I recorded chunks of the band on the SDR while I slept The high end was rather exciting around 1500, but unfortunately, I only recorded until 1510 so I'm not sure how long the opening lasted. I was able to hear bits of the JOIB-747 signoff at 1600 just after I got up so stuff may have stayed in for quite a while today. I have a lot of notes after going though the SDR files, so here are the highlights for now. I may follow up with a complete listing later: 1557 Unid Chinese w/5+1 pips & CC talk 1500. WYFR may have been there later 1548 decent carrier, but lots of domestic splatter 1440-1510. I think it was producing audio(talk) but I couldn't ID the language. I may give it another listen later. 1539 carrier visible on the display during a 2 second pause in KXPA-1540 programming, possible repeat of yesterday;s UAE reception 1530Two Chinese stations mixing with KFBK 1455-1510 1521 carrier, but way too much 1520 splatter 1512 Unid CC talk 1501 1476 4 long low + one long high pips 1500, then CC talk 1431 3+1 pips just like NHK & KBS at 1500, but neither one has stations there and little else was heard. Maybe one of the JO commercial stations 1269 Japan fair 1230 1215 CC talk 1230 1116 5+1 pips. YL talk, 1300 1098 2 sets of Chinese pips 1300 990 3+1 pips under CBW at 1300. Probably Japan 837 Rarely produces audio, but I had some today, woman singing, then 3+1 pips likely from NHK, 5+1 pips in background about 5 seconds late 783 Woman in Chinese again, sure wish I could ID this one 648 Voice of Russia IS 1159, then CC pgm. So now the only mystery is the schedule 594 China 5+1 pips about 15 seconds late u/Japan Bruce Seattle SDR-IQ rx K9AY ant ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] TP's this morning - more of the same
Conditions this morning were pretty much a continuation of what I've seen all week. Maybe a bit worse, since there weren't any really good signals and nothing unusual was heard. The low band was OK but not outstanding. At least I didn't notice a drop off above 620 (and no enhancement below that freq) Above 1000 it was very much su par. Basically, I had audio on most channels up to about 800, and carriers or audio on most channels up to 1300. I recorded 1225-1510 UT again today, and here's what the SDR files coughed up. Really nice audio, a native speaker could have understood most of it Nobody Sort of OK audio, a native speaker could have understood some of the words and phrases 594 Japan w/bits of unid in background 603 KBS with unid (Chinese?) in background 774 Japan 747 Japan 972 KBS Marginal audio, could recognize program content but a native speaker wouldn't have understood it 558 KBS /./603 576 unid 585 Japan 612 Japan 639 CNR1 657 N Korea 666 Japan //594 675 unid 693 JOAB 729 China 738 Mix of HLKG & Taiwan 756 China w/pips & ID 1400, o/unid w/3+1 pips (NHK or KBS) 783 Unid CC talk 810 2 sets of pips 1400 u/KGO, probably China & Russia 828 JOBB & China 891 uniid 963 CRI 981 CNR1 1116 unid 1170 KBS Theme mx & talk u/KPUG at 1300 1206 Yanbian Carriers, no real or imaginary audio today 621 792 837 846 855 864 909 918 927 1017 1026 1035 1044 1053 1062 1071 1107 1125 1134 1179 1215 1242 1269 1278 1287 1323 1305 1332 1566 1575 ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
[IRCA] TP's this morning 9-5-09
This was easily my best morning of the season , with lots of TP carriers, some of them with audio. T wasn't good enough to make me want to get up and DX in real time, just yet, but interesting nonetheless. The mid band (750-1400) was especially good. Not much was heard above and below that range. Here's the rundown from 1150 to 1320 UT as heard by the SDR-IQ. Loggings were made in 190 kHz chunks starting with 600 at the center freq and working up to 1500 (I skipped 1100-1200 completely, which probably would have yielded even more stuff) Good audio: JOIB-747 JOIB-774 KNOM-780 KFQD-750 Fair audio: KBS-972 Weak audio, however briefly: 594 Japan, 693 Japan, 936 male talk, 945 CC woman, 1215(threshold level), 1287(music & time tone 1300), 1377 CC woman, 1566 weak talk, KBBI-890(tent w/talk way u/CJDC) Carriers, however weak or brief: 558, 639, 648, 756, 783, 828, 837, 846, 855, 864, 891, 918, 927, 963, 981 , 1017, 1026, 1035, 1053, 1062, 1206, 1269, 1278, 1332, 1386, 1575 I think it would have been a fantastic morning at Grayland. .
