Re: [IRCA] TP 14 Nov Victoria version
In my sesh, 1415 until around 1505 UTC, I enjoyed around 20 seconds of arm chair audio on 1575 kHz VOA - around 50 minutes prior to LSR. Despite what Nick's fish barrel indicated: gd. Signals occasionally on 702, 774, 828, 846, and a few others... I had none of it - periodically I would encounter largely pretend snippets of something remotely resembling "modulation" on 603, 612, 702, 738, 774, 828, 837, 909, 1026, 1098 and 1116. It was the skantist (is that even a word?) of sessions. I found myself gazing at the ceiling of my shack while listening to network radio on CBC 690 dreaming of a time when the ionosphere was less hostile. Ah well. Thoughts and prayers for the people of Paris, Beirut, Bagdad suffering from terrorist aggression - and to our coalition forces pursuing ISIS - God speed. DXing was even harder work this morning. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): no Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): no not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: and no... Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 612 woman talking 1504UT , maybe DU English?Might have heard the cadence of "ABC News" in there, but really, it's desperation talking. There was country music earlier, so possibly the Saturday Night Country program? 702 woman talking 1403UT 774 man talking, sounding Japanese, but no pips at 1400UT. Not //702, so it wasn't 3LO. Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) 1566 1575 best wishes, Nick ___ ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

As Gary noted, a slipping back into the dark ages of DXingexcept I get rescued a bit by Aussies here. The other thing to note is that Asiatic frequencies 774, 972 etc. were delivering strong carriers at 1230UT, but I wasn't recording then. By 1300UT, things were mostly pretty grim, and not really much recovery later. pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): a distant memory Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise): another memory not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker: 738 Tahiti,Man in FF briefly at 1431UT 828 JOBB mx at end of EE lessons; pips on hour 1300UT 1116 4BC likely; two men in DU EE, one on phone 1447UT Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) 612 4QR? woman DU EE? 1447UT.702 faded down as this faded up. 702 man mumbling, DU EE inflection 1441-1446UT 774 3LO? woman talking 1414UT, seemed DU EE, might have been //612, 702 and 828, but all were at near imaginary level Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter) 846 891 909 best wishes, Nick ___ ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Walt's observation of 1566 powering in around 1500UT the morning was right on the money, but there was a little bit of other DX between 1300 and 1400UT as well, so things are slowly recovering pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly): 774 JOUB CC lessons 1353UT 1566 HLAZ erratic strong peaks of male vocal mx 1458UT, man and woman in CC before and after, but at lower strength.
