Re: [IRCA] The New Rockin' 980!
David, Thanks a million for the information. Several nice folks have taken the time and trouble to pass along "Summerville, SC Rocket 980" to me. I've already confirmed it with a number of sources and everything now seems to be in place. Thanks again for helping me out. I do appreciate it. 73 and Good DX! Re: [IRCA] The New Rockin' 980!
Feel free to wear out your delete key and I'll wear out mine. Restraint and common sense are used here quite often. Just as I don't read every post on every list, I don't read every book when I go into every library. I select what I think is best and read it. I understand that some think it is a persistent problem when the same question is posted on many different lists, but again, there is a delete key on keyboards. No one has to read every post and they certainly don't have to answer every post. With the exception of you and one other person, I got a favorable response from my question on almost every list. I appreciate those who took the time to answer my call for help. I also found a new website in the process of asking for help. Perhaps due to that, I won't bother you again with the same question on so many lists. Perhaps one day in the future, we'll have the one or two lists of which you speak, but for now we have several from which to choose. I will post my reception reports and see what comes about. Okay, I'll go the Post Office and mail out some QSL Cards. Yeah, way too many lists. I only subscribe to a ABDX, IRCA and NRC for general DXing stuff, and generally only post to ABDX, unless I'm responding to something posted on one of the others (like now). Other than that, there are some specialty lists, (like GY and CorazonDX), but only need to post stuff of interest to those lists. Not sure if there's anything that can be done about list profusion. -- Mesa Mike LA de NM ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Consider what happens when you post the same question on many different lists. A persistent problem on mailing lists is that many people reply to questions without checking to see if the question has already been answered by somebody else. But that small problem is multiplied manyfold when the question appears on many lists, since it isn't feasible to check and see whether the answer has already appeared somewhere. So, a lot of people may be wasting their time posting unnecessary replies, and many more people are wasting time deleting all the duplicate and unnecessary postings. And there's nothing wrong with that! Just for the record, though Kaz called it "Scott's 10watts.com," that's not quite true - I'm actually just an employee of the site, responsible for the daily news updates. And while I'm very proud of the work I and my colleagues do to maintain the level of accuracy the site is known for, I don't get an extra dime in salary based on whether or not DXers (or anyone else) subscribe. (This is not the case with my tower site calendar and NorthEast Radio Watch, which are mine!) For those who are interested, there's a discount subscription rate available for DXers. For those who aren't...no problem at all. I don't care whether you use the site or not, but surely you could have looked the info up *somewhere*, before posting your question to NINE different mailing lists. Good grief! I stayed away from the IBOC thread, but I think it's time to start one about basic netiquette instead. I thought they had a Spanish format. I looked at Summerville and should have put 2 and 2 together, but I failed to do so. It does make sense now. Thanks! [IRCA] The New Rockin' 980!
I heard this at 0026 today on my new SRF-59. It appeared out of the mix and then faded into the mix. I could still make out the oldies after the fade, but nothing more so far as an ID. I also thought I heard them mention Charleston. "THE NEW ROCKIN' 980!" Any help would be appreciated.
