Todays session was more lively and unpredictable than a Texas Holdem competition in Vegas with more wide ranging choices than the National Republican convention.
I started early after getting roused by my wife at 1200 UTC about a digital alarm going off somewhere in our house - turned out to be a low battery alarm on a wireless phone. After a 15 minute roller coaster of here now, gone in a moment DU selection (lead on a visual wild goose chase with Nick's online Fish Barrel...) I gave up and decided to pack it in for a minimum of one hour. My observation at 1204 UTC was: There is great promise here but it would be at least an hour away from blooming. Off to bed! I returned to the dial by 1314 UTC and the dial was in the full swing, up and down of an old wooden roller coaster. Most noted this morning were ABC Network on 612 and 774 clearly parallel to the online live stream. 774 occasionally traded off with Japan but there was little evidence on an Asian opening apart from bursts of 1st and 2nd tier activity. By 1318 UTC Korea on 1566 was holding down the channel firmly with quick fades. 1575 would often reveal snippets of VOA Thailand. A surprise was CBC Relay (40W) in Ucluelet, British Columbia relaying CBC 1 90.5 in Victoria - This flea power has been heard in Australia - but it is always a treat in Victoria. https://youtu.be/KwkhL8dL8dU Summary - Good audio at times: 567, 576, 594 (JJ), 603 (KK), 612 (EE), 702, 738, 747, 774, 792, 828, 891, 954 (JJ), 1386, 1566, 1575 Promising signals threatening audio but not delivering - 531, 558, 639, 675, 756, 764, 801, 1116, 1242, 1593 Every couple of minutes (according to the NHP Fish Barrel it was a shuffle of the deck and a completely different scenario.
