---BeginMessage---
Hi All:

WEMM, 1200, Huntington, WV is back on the air w/gospel mx, numerous IDs sigs.
that are not as good as they used to be. I suspect they came back on July 1.

Also, the 1450 in Parkersburg is on, but doesn't seem to be cw anymore. Noted
this morning w/religious program, preaching.

[IRCA] WEMM-1200

2013-05-13 Thread David Faulkner
Hi All:

WEMM, 1200, Huntington, WV is most certainly silent. Their on-line feed may
still be on, but nothing here but very faint traces of WKST. Also getting an
almost readable signal from WANB on 1210 and WOWO 1190 at its usual strength.
When WEMM is on it puts what I would call a semi-local signal in here.

In other notes; WZZW, 1600, Milton, WV appears to be off. All I hear is what I
suspect is Wheeling. Was listening this afternoon when they should have been
carrying Limbaugh (//WVHU) whoever was there certainly didn't have Limbaugh
(WVHU was). WVHU-800 continues running WVHU/WZZW IDs, though. WLGC, 1520,
Greenup, KY continues off. All I've heard daytimes on 540 for a long time is a
faint signal out of Richland, VA. WWCS, which got in here almost as well as
WKRC, 550, Cincinnati, must be off.

1230 is certainly interesting around here on weekends. WVNT, Parkersburg
carries FSR, which means all three of the stations audible here (WYTS and WIRO
are the other two) are FSR. It's a rather unusual effect.

Hi All:

There has been no sign of WEMM, 1200, Huntington, WV, for about two weeks
now. Usually has a decent level here. Noted WKST, New Castle PA on the car
radio in Athens the other day, but no WEMM. No problem with the FM. I
wondered when they moved from 1470 why they bothered to put their money into
AM.

I don't know about on-air, but their online stream is running at 8:45 pm EDT
on SAT 5/4 with current ads and live weather (Shine 1200 Christian).

Re: [IRCA] WEMM-1200

2012-01-04 Thread David Faulkner
Todd:

Far as I know it is the same owner.  They were country gospel and WEMM for a
time on 1470.  They even tried flag-waving patriotism as WRWB for a time.  When
they were gospel before (on 1470) they were often //WEMM FM, though only when
WEMM FM was playing music.  It spends most of its time preaching.

A couple of other things to note: WVKO, 1580, Columbus, is running some kind of
talk format.  I heard a clear WVKO ID today @ 1500, but even than early The
Big Talker was well atop the channel so I couldn't identify which talk format
WVKO is running.

WATH, 970, Athens, Ohio, has added a flea-powered FM twin at 97.1.  Though it
has only 13 watts, its broadcast antenna is mounted up with the WXTQ (Power
105) antenna which, I am told, has the fifth highest origination point in
Ohio.  It gets in here as well as or better than the other flea powers in
Athens.  WATH is mentioning the FM frequency in some of their programming, but
as yet I have heard no legal IDs giving its call sign.

Third, the two stations I reported not hearing on my November trip to SC, the
1500 in Gaffney and the 1530 in Spartanburg, were both on and doing fine over
New Year's weekend.  However I did not (and have never while passing through
there) heard any sign of WBKW, 1070, Beckley.  When we first moved here in the
mid-90s, they were a daytime regular as WCIR, mixing w/then WIBC.  Today WFNI
is always alone all day here, and how does anybody manage to operate on 1070 at
night in the south given the signal WFNI puts into the Carolinas?  WJLS, 560,
Beckley is also a daytime regular here.  Does anybody know if WBKW is really
operating?

Hi David,
Will they be the same owners as well?

Thanks,

Hi All:

This morning I noted the former (apparently) WNBL, 1200, Huntington, WV,
running a continuous loop identifying the station as WEMM and saying they
would begin carrying gospel music on Friday at noon.  So no more Better life
radio, and oldies/MOYL-type format.  I suspect they'll sound pretty much like
WEMM-1470 used to, except they'll have a much better signal.
