Re: [IRCA] WIMA DX Test Reminder TONIGHT
Only station IDed here in So. ID between KSL IBOC fades was CKFR, although I could hear a couple others in the mud. No sign of the test. My thanks as well to the test-arrangers. 73, Bruce Bacon Boise County, ID -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Walter Salmaniw Sent: Saturday, January 05, 2008 12:31 AM To: Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America Subject: Re: [IRCA] WIMA DX Test Reminder TONIGHT At 09:18 PM 1/4/2008, you wrote: I haven't seen any mention about the WIMA-1150 DX test coming up in just a couple hours from now, so wanted to post this reminder in case anyone has forgot: WIMA 1150 kHz Lima, Ohio DX Test Date: Saturday morning (late Friday night), Jan. 5, 2008. Re: [IRCA] WIMA DX Test Reminder TONIGHT (heard in NE Oregon)
Thanks very much for the reminder, J.D.--I wouldn't have remembered it at all. I was set up and recording several minutes before the test was supposed to begin, and listened until several minutes after the test was supposed to end. Mostly a SS station playing music was dominant at first, then a station with sports talk and later another talk station. But 3 times these faded down and the first time a trace of a long tone was heard; the second time the long tone then some very weak code, then just before the end, the long tone and traces of code but weaker. Reviewing my tape, the middle segment I can get the long tone, then nothing, then WIMA WIMA IN LIMA, OHIO TEST TEST. So I definitely heard the test! IBOC hiss was never heard during the test. Prior to the test I had heard some fadeups of KSL's hiss on 1150, but using USB mode the hiss was much less than LSB mode, so I used USB during the test. Fortunately the hiss wasn't heard at all during the test. It's not clear to me if sending an email report with a short MP3 audio clip will result in any type of verification (assuming it's satisfactorily verified). The info says email reports can be sent, but later on it says if a verification is desired, a snail mail request with return postage is needed. I'd be satisfied with just a simple email stating my report was verified as correct; that would be enough for me. (And I'm already satisfied that I heard the test, from my own recording, but having the station acknowledge it would be nice.) Any help sorting this out is appreciated.
