Powell, I was wondering if any one would pick up on that report. Though I am
about 140 miles from Nashville, WLAC is not always in nice and strong, as
you might think. I have heard Phoenix, AZ in on top of them from this QTH.

[IRCA] WLAC 1510 interference

2009-11-07 Thread Powell E. Way III
I'm in western rural Newberry County, SC and have been hearing telemetry under
WLAC. It is intermittent, and I have heard it on a bunch of different radios,
including my car radio on a trip back from Columbia one night. Has anybody
heard this? I reported it to Eric Rice at the Atlanta, FCC office.

[IRCA] WLAC-1510 pattern changes

2011-01-10 Thread Steve Francis

Top-of-the-hour unattended timer recordings this weekend turned up a
potentially helpful discovery.

Nashville sunrise and sunset times this month are both at ToH - sunrise at 8:00
EST and sunset at 6:00 EST. WLAC (the past two days, anyway) has made its
pattern changes right at ToH, at about 59:56. This I could barely believe: in
each case, there is about four seconds of WLAC being totally OFF the air,
carrier and all. Right before 8am EST yesterday, I was treated to the usual
local-like WLAC signal, then a quiet but perfectly readable "You're listening
to WWBC, Cocoa-Merritt Island ... ", followed by WLAC again. Ten hours later,
at 5:59:56 pm EST, it was a shouted "ESPN Deportes Radio!", i.e. WRRD Waukesha
WI.

Both WWBC and WRRD are relogs, but I never expected to hear them in the clear,
if only for four seconds. It felt like a 1974 Monday morning. This is
encouraging news if WLAC's dedication to exact times continues. Months where
Nashville sunrise and/or sunset times are on the quarter-hour or half-hour will
be of little use, but this month both are at ToH.

[IRCA] WLAC-1510 IBOCC OFF?

2009-11-20 Thread texas4421

From the 'For-what-it-is-worth' category:

WLAC-1510 appears to have it's IBOC signal turned off. I can hear WFED
(X-WTOP) on 1500 and Oklahoma City on 1520. These stations are not heard
when WLAC is on with IBOC.

The upper part of the band seems very quite this morning.

Re: [IRCA] WLAC-1510 pattern changes

2011-01-10 Thread Paul B. Walker, Jr.
When stations change pattern, they usually do drop off the air for a second
or two.. maybe 3.. so that part is nothing new.

At WGGH, when we power up, we go off the air for about 1 1/2 seconds... when
we power down, we're off the air for about 3 seconds.

2011-01-13 Thread HASCALL, DAVID CIV DFAS
Not sure if WFNI 1070 (ex-WIBC) still does this but they have in the
past. Dead air for 2-4 seconds. I will have to watch for any time that
their pattern / power change happens at the TOH. Thanks. You never
know about BOH, many stations ID during program swaps @ that time, too.

And WCKY 1530's is off. The exciters for IBOC probably broke. It's not
uncommon. WLAC's has been off for a couple weeks. It is coming in loudly but I
can hear 1520 and no decoding of either 1510 or 1530.

It's not on, so I don't know if it's broken or what. I
had a clear 1520 so no HD from WCKY either. I'll see
what I can find out.

Well, if it's broken, let them (WLAC) leave it off.

The old saying "If it aint broke, dont fix it" doesn't apply here, because
normally, if something were broken...we'd want it fixed.. but not this!!!

Powell-
I checked at 2330 tonight, and WLAC has their IBOC off again. Hope this is a
trend broadcasting.

As chili, I checked BI-LO and about had a heart attack. In Dallas Wolf brand
is only 0.69 cents a can. BI-LO wants $2.19 a can and your first born.
Thanks but no thanks.
