Re: [IRCA] WQEW IBOC Off
Got this from my friend who is the Chief Engineer for WSDK 1550: "Checked the logs and there have been no instances where the pattern didn’t switch to night. And all night DA parameters, including power, have been well within spec." Paul On Sun, Mar 25, 2012 at 9:04 PM, Paul B. Re: [IRCA] WQEW IBOC Off
Russ, Before accusing stations, please have a bit more proof of your accusation. A processional friend of mine has been the Chief Engineer at 1550 since it's days as a 1KW Daytimer in 1978. He would be notified immediately if power or pattern were out of tolerance or operating ill-legally. He tells me, "We’ve received late night reception reports from Akron, Ohio, Chicago, IL and Charlotte, NC now that the Canadian is off the air." And he just dialed up the remote control and everything is operating properly.. and has been for quite some time with WSDK. Re: [IRCA] WQEW IBOC Off
Although WQEW puts in a very listenable signal ( not that I'd want to ) here at night, their IBOC doesn't seem to cause problems. I have a semi-local low power on 1570, and 1550 is mostly lost to WDLR and WSDK, neither of which appear to have any interest in using their licensed facilities at night. [IRCA] WQEW IBOC Off
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned this yet, but WQEW-1560 has been IBOC-free for the past 4 or 5 nights. Probably a temporary situation, but one can always hope... in any case, 1550 and 1570 should now be a little cleaner for DXers in the northeast.
