Re: [IRCA] Your best logging of 2008?
My best is tough to pick out, but I'd include: 1320 CKEC New Glasgow NS on January 23. I include this one because I heard them on the car radio at 3:30 in the afternoon! 1550 WNZF Bunnell FL on August 20, with their emergency broadcasting for Hurricane Fay. 1540 ZNS Bahamas on September 6, as they were giving emergency info for Hurricane Ike. 729, Spain and 621-Canary Islands on October 12 Lots of good southern DX on October 16 with logs of 910-WEPG S. Pittsburg TN and 940-WCPC Houston MS. On the FM side, July 9 was my best day with 20 new stations via a great Es opening to Florida and the Bahamas. The best log was KNTE El Campo TX on July 1, at 1375 miles. [IRCA] Your best logging of 2008?
My favorite loggings of 2008 were Kaliningrad-1215 on 11/2 and Slovenia-918 on 11/11. Both new countries raising total heard from Mass to 98. Also, XEPE-1700 Tecate, Baja California on 12/10. Are these the correct call letters or did they change? Marc DeLorenzo South Dennis, MA http://www.wtfda.info/showthread.php?t=228 -- Original message -- From: Martin and Wendy Foltz martinfo...@cox.net My best was WPLX517 UCLA Emergency Advisory System on 1630 kHz, running about 7 watts. I haven't checked the distance but probably around 50 miles. Best broadcaster heard was KAWC 1320 Yuma AZ. [IRCA] Your best logging of 2008?
Now that 2008 is coming to a close, let's start a round robin, open thread: What was your best / most favorite logging of 2008 (regardless of receiver)? For me it was 1600 KDAK Carrington ND, supposedly with 90 watts nights on 2/15/2008 on a GE ULR. This was a new station for me and an awesome logging at 837 miles (too bad that they don't have a 90 watt ULR distance record :) ). How about YOU? I would say my best logging of 2008 was WIGN-1550 Bristol, TN, heard on 12/17 on Grundig G5. That was my first new station on 1550 sunset skip in a long time. Probably since Reagan's first term, if not the Carter administration! Back in the day, 1550 was one of my most productive SSS/SRS frequencies, along with 1540 (before CHIN went fulltime), 1560, 1570 and 1580. WBIX-1060 DX test on 2/24 was my second best. Still waiting for the QSL on this one! Did anyone get a verie for this test? 73 Mike Brooker Toronto, ON ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com

Re: [IRCA] Your best logging of 2008?
My best Domestic logging (s) of this year has to be the three I caught on 1070 one night, and I received 3 QSLs from all too. KNTH-TX, KVKK-MN, and KHMO-MO. For Foreign, probably Radio Farda-UAE on 1575, no QSL as yet though. 73, Patrick Patrick Martin KGED QSL Manager ___ IRCA mailing list IRCA@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: irca@hard-core-dx.com
