How about building a humungous coil around the island? Then cars could be
recharged in the same way the magnetic-loop table-top chargers work with
cell phones.

This is talking about Jeju Island, home of HLAZ-1566 (not mentioned;
how could they not?). The wacky idea isn't (necessarily) that
they'll have all electric vehicles there by 2030, just that the
thought crossed what passes for my mind, with all that RF floating
around, surely one might use it to maintain a float chargewell,
maybe not...
