Re: [IRCA] 910 new logging

2017-03-30 Thread Mike Sanburn
Many a cold winter night I tried to log WGTO (540 FL) here in SoCal but no
cigar...They ran a DX test in their latter days and I believe Mr. Hall here in
SoCal was able to log it, sadly I did not. ms

Your memory is good, Mike. Back in the early 1990s, WGTO was the callsign of
the 540 licensed to Cypress Gardens, Florida. That station and WSTH in
Columbus, Georgia, also on 540, would make frequent visits to the Midwest from
about 1992 to 1994 in the wintertime when auroral conditions were prevalant.

Wikipedia and the station's website both have links to WGTO's web stream. It
and Radio-locator.com are often good places to find it. If not they often have
a link to the station's website, which may have a "Listen Live" or similar.

Re: [IRCA] 910 new logging

2017-03-30 Thread Mark Pettifor

Growing up not too far south of Cassopolis, across the state line in
Indiana, I had quite a few friends and acquaintances who lived there.
They all either worked on cars themselves, or were directly related to
someone who worked on cars. So yeah, not only Cass, but I'd say the
whole bottom half of the state was a "suburb" of Detroit in that
respect.

And by "worked on cars", I mean took a normal car and did whatever was
mechanically possible (within the financial constraints of a teenager
with a part-time job) to make it go faster, sound louder, and look
sportier. I had some "interesting" rides in some of those vehicles. :^)

Re: [IRCA] 910 new logging

2017-03-29 Thread Chris Kadlec
I was in Cassopolis yesterday evening. Had you received this a day ago and
posted, I could have checked up on it the same day. I work about 20 minutes
south of there. However, I'm taking some time off right now, so checking on
it personally will have to wait. 910 is an audible AM signal here in town
and according to my last bandscan (late 2014), it was "Classic Hits 101".
However, WDOR is on the same frequency here, so I think the signal will be
too rough to get much from at this location.

If you still want me to check up on it, send me an e-mail personally so that
reminder will be visible in my inbox every day so I won't forget (otherwise,
I'll forget in under 10 minutes).
