Re: [IRCA] Huge lower band TA opening in WI

Nothing here on the west coast, yet, Neil, but it's not quite dark yet

Walt:

Nothing in here last night, not even on LW. However, a couple of nights back
189-Iceland was in poor audio plus there were carriers on 153, 162 and 180.
Nothing yet on MW. So far this season is starting off where the last one
ended, very poor, but then it's early days.

Starting about sunset the entire lower band has been quite good for TA's at my
Lake Michigan frontage DX site. As usual they are quite fady, but some are
audible for minutes at a time. A few new ones so far like Azores 837
sometimes leading the pack over Spain and occ. France (WHAS phased out) 864
Egypt came up atop France past horrid CJBC slop with clear Koran (just like I
used to here in ME 25 years ago). 891 Portugal was decent // a strong 594 for
a while. Algeria is gone for now from 891 it seems. WLS phased down. Also new
in 810 Madrid w/ SER // 873 and pips coming well under WGY at 0200. Has the FF
in NB left 810 yet ? Other stuff is in on 810 at times, but wasn't sure if it
was unneeded NB. If I reverse the phasing on 810, Mexico comes blasting in
off back end.

Almost every TA split channel below 1000 has had audio, inculding decent audio
from Spain 648 with WSM phased. 720 has had Canaries and Portugal poking thru
phased WGN also.

Ordering Perseus tomorrow as I can only wonder what I am leaving on the table
here since I can only be in one place at one time.

73 KAZ Grafton WI R8B and Phased BOG System at about 30 deg 415 ft terminated
into 270 ohms // 282 ft unterm (will pound in ground rod for that one soon and
add resistor)
