Re: [IRCA] LYQ 529 Khz Beacon
Nice log, Tom. If they're doing transcribed weather broadcasts (TWEB), this would be the first I've heard of a station (starting or resuming) doing such in years. Then too, it may just be a local thing for tests. May have to actually try and log it.! 73, de Mike Tom Jasinski wrote: 529 Khz LYQ Beacon, Manchester, Tenn., 2/23, 06:00 to 06:15 CST. Heard well with new format. Morse Code LYQ followed by male voice announcement mentioning complete location, FAA ID, followed by local weather conditions (Ceiling, Wind Speed, Wind Direction and altimeter reading) but no data follows. The announcement mentions Missing after each catagory. Taped loop lasting about 24 seconds. Are they still testing this format? Heard with near perfect copy, suspect either very good DX conditions yesterday morning or they have raised power levels? Previous format was Morse Code with a pause repeated about every 8 seconds. As usual you need careful tuning due to close proximity with several stations on 530Khz. Appears to be best before sunrise here in midwest. Re: [IRCA] LYQ-529
In September I submitted a reception report through their web site and about a month ago sent them a reception report with a CD containing audio clips. So far no reply for either. Re: [IRCA] LYQ-529 (back on)
Glad to hear LYQ is back on; it was a near-nightly visitor here--I'll check for it again. Re: [IRCA] LYQ-529
I heard this early this past week at Burnt River ON. I'd read about it here awhile ago, but forgot to check. But heard a het on 530 while DXing and noted LYQ as the cause. Then a day or so later it was completely absent. This would explain...
