Bismillah [IslamCity] American Jewish groups must speak up over Gaza

2009-04-28 Thread Arif Bhuiyan
Richard Silverstein: It is a sensitive subject, but the movement for Gaza
accountability needs full Jewish participation
American Jewish groups must speak up over Gaza
Monday 20 April 2009 09.00 BST

When Israeli forces left Gaza in January, they left behind 1,400 Palestinian
dead, 4,000 homes destroyed, universities and government buildings flattened,
and tens of thousands homeless. The Israeli and world press documented IDF
atrocities including the indiscriminate use of white phosphorus in densely
populated urban areas, the assault on United Nations humanitarian facilities,
the shelling of civilian homes, and the shooting in cold blood of unarmed
civilians.
Israeli human rights groups have called for war crimes investigations of IDF
actions. In the last few weeks, on-the-ground reports supported by eyewitness
testimony have become available. They paint an even more damning picture. The
attacks on UN facilities spurred the Palestinian Authority to call for a
security council investigation. Officials announced they are investigating
whether the international body has jurisdiction, but it seems likely that US
opposition will doom such an avenue of redress.
The UN human rights council has just appointed a distinguished jurist, Richard
Goldstone, to head an investigation of both IDF and Palestinian actions in
Gaza. The council made a wise choice in Goldstone, who served as chief
prosecutor of the international criminal tribunals for the former Yugoslavia
and Rwanda: he has an impeccable record in his field and can be expected to
issue a fair, balanced and thorough report.
Last week, Judge Balthazar Garzon announced the investigation of six Bush-era
officials for devising a scheme that justified torture of terror suspects. With
this development, it became clear there was a new method to hold violators
accountable for their alleged crimes, and I am certain activists are already
preparing dossiers for submission. Earlier this month, an international
assemblage of individuals announced the formation of the Russell tribunal on
Palestine. Modelled on the Russell tribunal on war crimes in Vietnam, and named
after philosopher and peace campaigner Bertrand Russell, it aims to bring to
bear international law as a force for adjudicating and resolving the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The tribunal will hear a legal case prepared by
volunteer experts from around the world. A jury of respected individuals will
hear evidence from both sides and announce its finding of guilt or innocence to
the world.
There is one important consideration that should encourage Israel to
participate. If it truly believes Palestinian rocket attacks constitute war
crimes, then it should vigorously make this point. The tribunal has already
taken pains to point out that this is a part of its mandate: Do the means of
resistance used by the Palestinians violate international law? However, I
would imagine that Israel will not participate.
While Israel's savage assault against Hezbollah in Lebanon during the 2006 war
generated an uproar, one wonders whether the massacres that occurred in Gaza
crossed a moral threshhold. Can an effort to end Israeli impunity have real
impact, both in terms of influencing world opinion and of impacting on Israeli
behaviour? Israel has become an expert at wearing down its opponents, honing
such skills during 40 years of occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. The
question is: what, if anything, can the peace community do differently this
time?
Each time the world witnesses another humanitarian tragedy resulting from
Israeli military action, the outcry is louder. For example, the UN has never
before entertained the possibility of investigating Israeli war crimes. The EU
has informally made known that it intends to freeze a planned upgrade in
relations with Israel and cancel of visit of Israel's prime minister as an
indirect result. American universities such as Hampshire College and church
denominations such as the Presbyterians contemplate ever more seriously the
issue of divestment. Gaza crossed a red line. Now, new methods of protest and
new means of ensuring accountability must be devised.
Horrors such as the Gaza war also breathe new life into movements like the
Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions initiative. Recently, Naomi Klein and Rabbi
Arthur Waskow engaged in a provocative debate at In These Times about BDS. The
Gaza war made Klein a believer. Recently, Rabbi Brant Rosen wrote words that
many in the American Jewish community might find heretical, that BDS could be a
legitimate expression of a weaker, dispossessed, disempowered people.
There can be no doubt that horrors such as Gaza serve as moral ice-breakers in
the psyche of diaspora Jews. Ideas that hitherto might have been taboo or
anti-Israel become suddenly legitimate. As Israel drifts farther to the
right, American Jews are challenged to respond morally. In this context, the
forbidden becomes

Bismillah [IslamCity] israel: Globalization of Israeli terrorism

2009-04-28 Thread Shahid
Globalization of Israeli terrorism

The people should know that there is no place where Israel cannot operate.
There is no such place, - former prime minister of Zionist entity, Olmert.

Baruch Kimmerling has defines politicize with specific reference to Zionist
entity, as a process that has, as its ultimate goal, the dissolution of the
Palestinian people's existence as a legitimate social, political and economic
entity. In order to achieve its Zionazi agenda - Israel has carried its
terrorism to many countries, near and far away - from Mumbai to Islamabad;
Turkey to Lebanon; Paris to New York; Syria to Iran; London to Sudan, and Bali
to Madrid.

Despite the western Zionist-owned mass media's rent less propaganda lies about
certain countries (Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.) and groups
(Hamas, Hizb'Allah, Islamic Jihad, etc.) being sponsor of terrorism against the
West (read Israel) - the fact is that it's the Zionist regime which has carried
terrorist activities inside other sovereign countries - such as the
assassination of Imad Mugniyah in Damascus in 2008; bombing of Syria in 2007;
Mombai carnage in 2008; terrorist attack on Sri Lankan cricket team in
Pakistan, and three military attacks on Sudan in 2009. Even a Poll conducted
among 15 EU countries in 2003 - resulted 59% of the 7,500 the participants
believed Israel to be the greatest threat to the world peace - and not Islamic
Iran or North Korea (reported by Guardian, November 2, 2003).

According to the Bible - the Jewish elites had the habit of murdering prophets.
Christians, for centuries, have believed in the Blood Libel - which though
denied by Zionists - is confirmed by an Italian Jew historian, Areil Toaff (son
of Rabbi Elio Toaff) in his book Bloody Passovers: The Jews of Europe and
Ritual Murders, published in 2007. Another Italian Jewish historian, Sergio
Luzzatto in an article Those Bloody Passovers (published in Corriere della
Serra), agreed with Toaff, saying: A minority of fundamentalist Ashkenazis
carried out human sacrifices.

Now, since there are no more prophets to murder and most of the fundamentalist
Jews (Zionists) have settled in Palestine - their victims have been changed
from White Christians to Arab Muslims and Christians.

For more than seven decades, the Israeli Jews have been killing innocent
people, elderly men, infant children, widowed women, orphans, and fellow Jews
who dare to criticize their Zionazi fascism. Although, the Biblical stories
depict Jewish history over several thousands of years in the past - the Israeli
Jews have proved that nothing has changed in the course of history.

Ghayrah for Islam Has Become a Deficiency
Posted in 'Abdullah 'Azzam on April 6, 2009 by Abu Sabaya

“…It is a disaster that your heart dies without you noticing. It is as if you
say: ‘O Lord! How often I rebel against You without you punishing me for it!’
And He replies: ‘How often I punish you without you even noticing! Haven’t I
removed the life from your heart?’

The death of the heart, the lack of reaction to the Shar’i texts, that your
face doesn’t become red for the sake of Allah…that’s it. Your heart is dead. It
no longer pumps blood. In fact, this has now become something shameful. It has
now become blameworthy for one to have zeal and to react strongly when he sees
some corruption or evil in front of him. This is now considered a deficiency of
the many deficiencies that can exist in one’s character. People will say that
you are a poor guy who is quick to get charged up, or that you are passionate,
or that you are zealous, or that you are rash, or that you are a
fundamentalist, etc. Yes! It is now something blameworthy!

…Yes, and this is why we now use these terms without realizing what we’re
saying. This person is too simple-minded, this person is too passionate, that
person is a fanatic, easily charged up, zealous, etc. And is this religion
given victory by mere reason, or is it given victory by zeal and passion?
Reason tells you: how can you stand against Russia? Malik bin Nabi said that
the index finger of Bilal that was raised to the sky saying ‘Ahad, Ahad (He is
One, He is One)’ was not the voice of reason. Rather, this was the voice of
emotion, because reason would tell him to deceive Umayyah bin Khalaf and then
come at night and renew his Islam with Muhammad.

Someone once said to me:  “Brother, we shouldn’t be so open with everything we
say. I sat for two years in an office without my coworker knowing my mindset.”
So, I said to him: “May Allah ease your affairs. This means that for two years,
you didn’t speak a single word encouraging good or forbidding evil because if
you had spoken, he would have known your mindset?” And he considers this to
have been cleverness on his part!

The cowards think that cowardliness is intelligence * This is the deception of
the wicked soul…”

Bismillah [IslamCity] Hindu extremists attack Pakistani journalists in India

The extremists of a Hindu religious organization, Shri Ram Sene
attacked a group of Pakistani journalists here on Wednesday

INDIA :NEW DELHI: In a very unfortunate incident today Hindu
extremists of Shri Ram Sena swarmed Delhi's International center and
manhandled Pakistani journalists who were attending meeting of
Indo-Pak forum.

According to reports these Hindu attackers were also chanting
Anti-Pakistan slogans like Pakistan is global problem so war is the
only solution Shockingly enough ,rather than feeling ashamed of this
incident top brass leadership of Shri Ram Sene proudly owned this
incident by saying'Everything was pre-planned as we wanted to disrupt
the seminar Noted author Arundhati Roy, columnist Swapan Dasgupta,
Nirupama Subramanian, Hindu correspondent in Islamabad and Amit
Baruah,Hindustan Times foreign editor were also present there.

These types of incidents are clear demonstration of what actually is
happening behind the soft image of India and what is the thinking of
Hindu extremists about Pakistan. India is a big proponent of
secularism but this incident is a black spot on the face of Indian
secularism which proves that India is a country where Hindu radicals
can't even tolerate peaceful congregation of Pakistani journalists.

There is today a UN international conference on Racism
in Geneva , Swisserland
which is about to re-declare that Zionism is racism.

You will not be surprised if I would tell you that
the United Sates of America and the State of Israel
shall not attend and nor agree on its final resolution.

It is worth
remembering how the USA was founded
because should you ask my opinion, I would say
the White-man robbed the Red-man from his country
while the Black-man build a new country
for the White-man
(does it not sound familiar ??)

As for Israel I would say :
White-Jew robbed the Brown-Arabs from their country
while later the Brown-and-Black-jews
build a wall around it
(does is not sound realistic ??)

Racism has no colour ,
but it happens that the White-colour
gets dirty  very oftenand very fast too.

In 1977 the UN general assembly has already declared
Zionism is a form of
 racism
but in 1992 George (Papa) Bush managed to retract this resolution.

I , personally , would like to ask all of you :
If Zionism were not to be racism,
then what is still left over to be called:  racism ??

it is rather
The only racist-regine in the Middle East

Bismillah [IslamCity] usa: The only Good Muslim is the 'Anti-Muslim'!

Only Good Muslim Is the Anti-Muslim
by M. Junaid Levesque-Alam / August 25th, 2008

For some, Barack Obama's stature as a man of the left has fallen precipitously,
like late autumn leaves shed by branches bowing to the will of winter.

Disappointment has often been self-inflicted. Supporters have dipped their pens
deeply into the inkwell of Obama's inspiring story and written their own lines
on Afghanistan, oil drilling, or the death penalty — only to see these wishful
words unceremoniously erased by presidential politics or the senator's own
views.

But for American Muslims and progressive allies, both eager to see an end to
the vilification of Arabs and Muslims in the United States, Obama's mantra of
hope and change barely set in before it expired.

First we witnessed the embarrassing spectacle of micro-level ethnic cleansing
when two Arab women with headscarves were whisked offstage ahead of a campaign
photo-op in Detroit. Then we heard Obama call false claims about his
purportedly Muslim identity smears — as if he was accused not of belonging to
an Abrahamic faith observed by more than 1.2 billion people, but of slinking
out of Congress to visit a brothel. Soon after we saw the senator genuflect
before AIPAC and call for a permanently Israeli Jerusalem — a vision the Jewish
state has assiduously tried to realize by macro-level ethnic cleansing, purging
its Arab residents.

A more recent political maneuver also turned out to be a purge: the Obama
campaign's Muslim outreach coordinator, Mazen Asbahi, resigned this month
after a brief stint of several days. The event went almost unnoticed.

But two sharply different responses to this episode — and the standing afforded
to the authors of these responses — reveal that the senator is not alone in
failing to stanch America's anti-Islamic miasma. Rather, the shortcoming is a
collective one, shared by many liberals whose prejudice against Muslims and
Arab-Americans is surpassed only by an apparent disinterest in correcting it.

One response to the resignation came from James Zogby. An Arab-American
Christian, Zogby's credentials as a man rooted in his community are matchless.
He helped found the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. He led
non-sectarian campaigns to assist war victims in Palestine and Lebanon. And he
serves as president of the Arab American Institute, a Washington, D.C. think
tank.

Yet despite 30 years of community advocacy and experience, his views on Arab
and Muslim issues appear in just two popular non-ethnic publications. One is
the Huffington Post. The other is in Egypt.

Commenting on Asbahi's short tenure, Zogby writes, In the brief time he held
his position we spoke almost daily. He learned so much and did so much to make
Arab Americans and American Muslims feel included in the campaign.

Then, Zogby observes, it happened. One of the many websites monitoring
Muslims in America discovered that eight years ago Asbahi served on a board
which included a controversial imam. Asbahi resigned from the board after two
weeks.

Like vultures eyeing a wounded gazelle, the usual assortment of right-wing
bloggers descended on Asbahi. They vilified him as a closet fundamentalist for
once belonging to the Muslim Student Association, a well-established mainstream
group with branches on dozens of college campuses across the U.S. and Canada.

Not to be outdone, the Wall Street Journal threatened to amplify the echo
chamber, the walls of which reverberate with the hysterics of its associates in
the right-wing blogosphere.

Faced with mounting pressure and bereft of support from any quarter, Asbahi and
the campaign agreed he would relinquish his post.

This sequence of events comes as no surprise to anyone familiar with
neoconservative methods. It is but a reenactment of previous attacks: the
mendacious 2005 campaign to oust Columbia University professors who used
Israel's own archives to dismantle pleasant fictions about its history; the
dissemination of e-mails containing crude anti-Semitic nonsense sent out in
professors' names to destroy their credibility; and the ongoing efforts to
publicly intimidate universities into denying academics employment or tenure.

But amid the past few years of attacks, outrages, and, yes, smears, hurled at
Muslims and Arabs in this country, one Muslim figure stands curiously
unsullied: Irshad Manji. She, too, wrote about Asbahi's dismissal, though we
would do well to acquaint ourselves with the author first.

Unlike most of her coreligionists, Manji has been lavished with attention and
awards by mainstream and liberal America. She garnered Oprah Winfrey's first
Chutzpah award, Ms. Magazine's Feminist for the 21st Century seal of
approval, New York University's Wagner School Moral Courage Project, a column
in the Huffington Post, production of a PBS documentary, and the list goes on.

In an era when Muslims find themselves boxed in by political attacks here and
