Mufti Ibrahim Desai did NOT forbid chatting or
Internet as a technology. What he did say is "It is not permissible for
male or female to speak on the telephone to the opposite gender who is a Ghayr
Mahram (not prohibited in marriage) freely and without
necessity."

Please read his fatwa again, before replying to
him.

None of the following statements of your makes any

Regardless whether the communication uses modern technlogy or performed the

  Asslam-u-alikum!!!

  Respected Mufti Ibrahim
Desai Sb, noted your below answer that chatting on internet is prohibited
but I need to ask something to you that both chatter can't see each other and
can't express the exact feelings although it is possible through wording
and other animation effects but still both are behind the screen, then how it
could be prohibited unless they don't talk beyond the confines. If I have a
male/female friend in overseas and I don't have any other source to contact
with him/her except the chatting and I do chat in a very sophisticated
manners just to discuss routine matters and just to knowing each others
then what it should be consider whether wrong or right. and whereas the
animation effects (smiley/sad/cheer/weeping/clapping etc) are just to state
the feelings and those are not the actual pictures and nobody is even
worshiping(NAUZ BI LLAH) them. So even they are
  bad/prohibited...

  I'm totally confuse on
it, if we should have to avoid them then the technology of mobile
fones and tele fones are also prohibited to use as we mostly send text
messages to our friends (male/female) around the clock, means is this also
  prohibited

  I believe (sorry to say
I'm not going to challenge your knowledge, as you are my senior and I respect
you more than a common man) these things/technologies shouldn’t be
prohibited, the way we use that should be stopped. We have to change the way
we are using these scientific innovated products. As our
God (Almighty Allah) blessed us a brain and we are the only creators of
HIS which have the greatest rank in HIS all creation, and HE
also gave us power to innovate new things and sense to use/utilization
of those thingsSo, its better that we should have to follow the right
way instead to ignoring the things. As I believe God made two ways for
each and single track, now its totally up to us which one we
  follow

  Sir, please amend me if
I'm wrong in any point! Looking forward for your kind response!

Chatting on the internet is similar to
speaking on the telephone. It is not permissible for male or female to
speak on the telephone to the opposite gender who is a Ghayr Mahram (not
prohibited in marriage) freely and without necessity. If there is a
genuine need which is valid in Shari’ah, then members of the opposite
gender may speak through the telephone with modesty and confine the
discussion to the need. To speak freely and beyond necessity is a
sin. The same rule applies for chatting on the internet. No person should
decide him/herself what is a valid reason in Shari’ah to speak on the
phone or chat on the internet. Many people have their own interpretations
of genuine need which is not acceptable in Shari’ah. We are aware of many
  such people wh

The board said the decision to send Rose on

boycotts and that Danish lives would be threatened, as we have seen, then the
answer is no. "That would not have been responsible. The costs were
simply too high."

[IslamCity] Hajj Tips: Part 2: Dealing with the crowd.

2005-12-31 Thread Habib
Hajj Tips: Part 2: Dealing with the crowd.

Sometimes it's impossible to avoid the crowd, but rather we have to deal
with it. Follows some helpful tips in those situations.

Get ready BEFORE you enter the crowd
=
First open your slippers and pack those somewhere. Not only will you lose
the slippers if you don't do it, but also a thousand such slippers will
stack up and cause others to tumble. Such stacks are one major reason why
people tumble to death in dense crowds.

Next put both your hands straight down, don't fold you elbow and press or
touch the one in front of you. This tip specially applies during Tawaf,
while approaching the black near the black stone, when the crowd is almost
always heavy. Now to keep your balance . . .

Press backwards, and NOT forward
==
The crowd will always press you from your back. But remember NOT to counter
your balance by pressing the person in front of you. Rather lean back and
start pushing backwards using your back. Thus you will give support to the
one right behind you and also help the pressure from being propagating
forward. An important condition for Mabrub Hajj is that we don't directly
harm anyone neither do we indirectly cause any trouble to any one. And don't
stand still. Continue crawling forward inch by inch while the area cleans
up, all while you are pressing back.

Choose your time for performing Tawaf

Most heavy crowd: After Fajar salat to 8:00 morning. And after Asar till
Magrib.
Comparatively light: From 8:00 morning to 10:00.
The above is day time statistics only.

It takes about 30 minutes to perform a Tawaf during light population. That
time can rise up to 2 hours in heavy dense situations.

Best time for stoning
===
10 th Dhul Hajj: Any time after 1:00 noon.

11 th Dhul Hajj: Density is almost constant through out the day spanning
over to mid night, though not as high as the first day. But still dense
enough to be careful. Best time seems to be after 2:00 to 4:00 at noon.

12 th Dhul Hajj: On this day most people want to stone and leave Mina before
sunset. This brings in yet another rush in the first hours. The crowd is
extremely dense starting from 12:00 till 3:00. But falls down at around 4:00
afternoon. Pick this time, if you can do so. You still will have ample of
time still to leave Mina before sunset. Remember reaching Makka before
sunset is not the conditions here! Just crossing the border of Mina is. And
border of Mina is only a 5 to 10 minute walk from the Jamarat area.

To be continued in part 3: Insha Allah

Feel free to forward it to anyone you think will benefit from these
information, with corrections that you deem is necessary. Remember to
forward me a copy of your own tips.

Was-salam.

[IslamCity] Hajj Tips: Part 1: Avoiding crowds

2005-12-31 Thread Habib
Hajj Tips: Part 1: Avoiding crowds

With millions of persons performing hajj every year, it's easy to find one
self in heavy crowded areas during the rituals of Hajj. Follows a few tips
on how to handle these situation.

The Whys

Most of the deaths we hear of during Hajj results from stampede in
overcrowded areas. These people don't willingly jump to their death. But
they are the silent followers that flock with the mass walking forward and
suddenly find themselves in a very compressed area where a lot of pushing
and pressing and elbowing are taking place. Neither can they return back nor
can they get aside. The whole human mass begins to wave forward and
backward, those that can't keep up with it, fall down, while others stomp
over them and they die.

Don't! Avoid all dangererous crowd
=
A common mistake is to flock with the rest and advance silently. Especially
it happens during the stoning of the devil. Always look ahead a few hundred
meters and confirm that you are not approaching a dangerously overcrowded
area. Dangerously overcrowded areas are those, from where you can't return
back at will.

Be patient, even if you feel strong
===
Don't count on your strength, or think "well these people are stoning and
returning, why can't I?" Be patient. Even if you don't die, don't let
yourself be the cause of another Muslim's death. If you find the area
crowded, wait, or better return to your tent. And don't forget to ask help
from Allah before the start of every ritual, ". . . Fa yassir hu li,
therefore please make it easy for me". Insha Allah, He will make it easy for
you.

Choose your time wisely
===
By choosing your time correctly you can avoid a lot of crowed and hardship.
Follows a few tips on those.

Stoning 1st day, Dil-hajj 10 th
Don't attempt to stone before noon. The time between 8 o'clock in the
morning to 10 o'clock is the most dangerous. Most of the death during
stoning occurs at this date, at this time and in this ritual. The last
incident was in 2004 when 350 pilgrims died. And it wasn't the first such.
The situation will probably improve now, after the last year's modification
of the Jamarat area by extending the pillars. But then again, it's better
that we are aware of the incidents that happened here.
.
The crowd falls dramatically after noon. Visit then. Women and olds can
stone after sunset at night. The place is almost empty at that time.

And choose your place
=
Stoning can be performed from over the bridge or from under it. On the first
day of stoning, generally the area under the bridge less crowded than the
area above (opposite to what one may sense). This tip is not final, because
the situation might change depending on human flow control by police. But in
most cases the above is true.

The crowd moves like a column to the Jamarat pillars. Therefore the Jamarat
area that falls right in the front of you while approaching from Mina, is
the most crowded place. If you take a little patient, and walk pass it from
the side, and approach the pillar from it's behind, you will find that place
far less crowded. This tip holds true for every pillar for every day of
stoning. The tip again, if you find the Jamarat pillar area crowded, walk
pass it and then approach from behind, not from the front.

Next: Part 2 Inshall Allah

Feel free to forward it to anyone you think will benefit from these
information, with corrections that you deem is necessary. Remember to
forward me a copy of your own tips.

Was-salam.
Your brother in Islam.
