Kissing thumbs when Azhan is called

Question:

Is there any basis for kissing the-thumbs when the muadhdhin says "Ash-hadu 
anna Muhammadar-Rasool Allah"?

Answer: 

>From what we know, (the act of) kissing the thumbs when the Mu'adhdhin (caller 
>to prayer) says "Ash-hadu anna Muhammadar-Rasul Allah" has not been confirmed 
>on the authority of the Prophet (peace be upon him). So kissing them is an 
>innovation (bid'ah), and it has been confirmed on the authority of the Prophet 
>(peace be upon him) that he said: "Whoever introduces anything into this 
>matter of ours (i.e. Islam) that which is not from it, will have it rejected." 
>(Al-Bukhari, no. 2697 and Sahih Muslim, no. 1718)
