Yep, aware of Qpid's library. However, that doesn't provide a standard 
programming API. 

How would adding AMQP to CMS be different than the current protocol support for 
openwire and stomp in CMS?

The Qpid project already provides a C++ client for AMQP.  It would not be 
possible to just bolt on AMQP support to ActiveMQ-CPP, you'd need to write an 
entirely new client from scratch.
