It has a very similar user interface and tooling approach but supports the markdown format which will make it a million times easier on us in the long run. This part is a manual process > Other open source projects use Transifex, for example, OpenStack. > I propose we do the following: > Use Transifex for each major release starting with 3.0. If it is relatively > easy to translate for minor releases we can vote to do so with each. > Assign a language "maintainer" for each supported language to monitor > translations. I suggest we start with Spanish and French since those are the > languages our group of committers can best contribute to at this time. (If > we have a consensus to use Transfix, please volunteer if you'd like to be the > maintainer for a specific language). > Once a section of the documentation is approved by the language moderator, we > push the updates to GitHub. > Another thing to think about, Transifex offers automatic translation for > faster translation using google translation services or microsoft's which > require an api key and a paid subscription. I don't know if either of those > companies offer a free key for open source needs. I know we have a few > representatives from those companies that might be able to give us more > information. > Why we should be worried about translation? > Globalization! [jira] [Updated] (CB-6681) Android webview should use RelativeLayout
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-6681?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel ] Lisa Seacat DeLuca updated CB-6681: --- Description: This request is to change the Android webview element to use RelativeLayout instead of LinearLayout. Many users are starting to mix native and hybrid controls. Linear Layout does NOT allow the ability to put a native control "on top" of a web view, only before and/or after. In order to layer components we need the webview to be defined as a relative layout. An extended idea would be to allow a developer to choose which layout option they might wish to use as a configuration step. perhaps in the config.xml file. was:This request is to change the Android webview element to use RelativeLayout instead of LinearLayout. [jira] [Resolved] (CB-6464) [Russian] Elements which should not be translated are translated and locked
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-6464?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel ] Lisa Seacat DeLuca resolved CB-6464. Resolution: Fixed Andrey, I went through each of the pages that you identified as having issues and corrected the issues. Thank you for taking the time to open this JIRA issue. In the future just open them against the Translation component rather than the Docs component and assign to myself. Just so you are aware, it is not possible to lock inline code. Which is too bad. Unfortunately the crowdin tool doesn't allow me to partially lock something. If it's in the same paragraph the entire thing is locked or not locked. I appreciate that you want to translate the Russian version of the comments on the quick examples but if I unlock it for Russian then I have to unlock it for all the other languages. It's better off leaving locked and the comments for the examples being in English. That being said if you see a Russian translation still in any of the markdown files that is incorrect let me know so I can make sure the translations are removed. The only way we could do that is if we went back into the english .md files and entered a hard return so that the crowdin tool thinks they are separate. Right now the tool groups them together and I can't partially unlock. If you'd like to go back and help with that that would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you do and I'll grab the changes and push to Crowdin.
