Hi Ed, Myrle

I noticed that a GSoC applicant wants to resolve this issue in a project.

[~edcable] Could you appropriately label this issue with "mentor" as per the
instructions [here|https://community.apache.org/guide-to-being-a-mentor.html]
so that it attracts a slot to be mentored ?

Cheers,

Isaac Kamga.

[~edcable],

I suppose this means, we can close
[FINCN-3|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINCN-3].

[~myrle], I was working in the context of fims-web-app for FINCN-3.

Are we going to replace fims or just provide another UI which looks like Mifos
X community app?

With the few resources available, wont it be better to maintain a single
functional UI for CN? What are the additional advantages in building a new UI?
I know MFIs and CUs are using the Teller Driven UI (fims) as such. Maybe am
missing something. Please advice.

[~myrle]

Regarding the collection sheets - this is both inclusive of a UI for bulk-entry
of collection sheet data which is at the center, group, and individual level.
While usability of current implementation could be improved, it has been
refined over the years to support entering it at group level, center level, by
loan officer, bulk entry for clients that don't belong to groups, etc.

which in Fineract/Mifos X was implemented at both the web app level and most
recently the mobile UI.

Yes this is something that ideally could be available offline and could be
submitted incrementally if the collection sheet hadn't been fully completed.

Collection sheets also refer to the actual paper collection sheets that some of
our users still print out and fill out manually at a meeting. So this would be
a report that needs to be generated on a daily basis.

In Fineract, there are two levels of client transfers (transfers across
offices) and transfers across groups.

Transferring between groups in Fineract doesn't have any limitation from my
testing as far as not being able to transfer if active savings/loans are in
place. In Mifos 2.x that was a limitation.

Regarding your last question, for the origination/creation while it will depend
upon the policies of each institution (i.e. collateral, other information), for
group loans just need to track some additional basic information like
completion of group training, etc. For the loan itself the actual structure and
parameters of the loan, should be the same, the variance really gets down to at
what level is the loan tracked and at what level is liability shared.

So there are different flavors of group loans that need to be implemented
 * Group Loan - one common loan across all members with same amount, repaid as
a group
 * Group Loan with Individual Monitoring - one group loan but each individual
member has different amounts and different repayment schedule
 * JLG Loan - like an individual loan but made available to all members of
group in bulk who are jointly liable.

I'm interested in that task and I have few questions apart from that [~myrle]
already asked.

I'm assuming there is no mockups and I'd have to prepare it within my proposal?

Which repository should I look on?
{quote}A number of these UI elements will still need the requisite support on
the back-end.
{quote}
Above means that I'd have to write backend or just make some agreement on what
is needed and API structure?

Are the collection sheets paper, or UI?

I'm guessing that since the loan officer is traveling to the customers,
connectivity will be a problem.  If that's true than an offline first approach
is needed.  Is this assumption correct?

Can you provide (attach) examples of collections sheets currently in use?

What does it mean for a client to be transferred between groups.  What happens
with their debt/savings?

Can you detail what differentiates a group loan from a credit union loan?  As
far as the process goes?  As far as the information required goes?
