Test now uses awaitility and if a stat never does get to the expected
value will now fail with an assertion that shows the actual and expected
value of the stat.

Darrel Schneider commented on GEODE-1540:
-

I couldn't find any obvious problems with this test code that would allow it to
be labelled as flaky.
It does do 100 puts and then expect to see the stat change to have 100 items
queued for write and that is what fails.
The first time the test did 100 puts this assertion worked. It was the second
time after it flushed the first 100 that it never got to 100.

I couldn't find any timing issues or race conditions. A problem with the test
is that when an assertion failed it does not tell you what the actual value of
the stat was. I'm going to check in a change so that if it fails again the test
will list out what the actual stat value was.

GEODE-1517: fix TXStateProxyImpl continue working after TXManagerImpl is closed.

Holding the ReentrantLock during TXManagerImpl.close() when closing
TXStateProxyImpl. Provent any TXStateProxyImpl to work further. Add a test case
where it fails without the above fix and passes after the fix.

Also avoid going through synchronized failover map to check if a
TXStateProxyImpl is finished, instead, use its isInProgress() call.

Currently, suspect request is only sent to limited number of members, when
there are more than 4 members in the distributed system. See
GMSHealthMonitor.sendSuspectRequest. It is possible that the recipients of
suspect request is unreachable due to network partition. It has to make sure
that the recipients of suspect request are not the suspect members. So that
suspect requests will be processed.

GEODE-1508: fix IllegalStateException from importNewObject

The code in EntryEventImpl that calls importNewObject
is now careful to never call importNewObject with isSerialized false
if isUnretainedNewReferenceOk is false.
The same bug was fixed for importOldObject.
Unit tests have been added for the code in EntryEventImpl
that calls both importNewObject and importOldObject.

GEODE-1372 Added security-udp-dhalgo property.

Added unit test for it.
We start tcp server thread parallel with jgroup initialization. during
this there is possiblity that tcp server sees findCoordinator request.
In this case we added latct with 2 second wait to see whether jgroup
layer has been initialized or not.
If still not initialized then we add pk in GMSScript static variable.

The two test failures that I could find are too old to have build artifacts
anymore. One run was on doomtwo and the other on rooktwo. Their /etc/motd
says they have 4 cpus and 16gb RAM.

This test passes repeatedly on my laptop, though it has 8 CPUs.

this error, but even in the above run it looks like this error is present in

[jira] [Created] (GEODE-1543) Not using the the correct log level when exceptions are thrown while creating indexes.

2016-06-13 Thread nabarun (JIRA)
nabarun created GEODE-1543:
--

Summary: Not using the the correct log level when exceptions are
thrown while creating indexes.
 Key: GEODE-1543
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GEODE-1543
 Project: Geode
  Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: nabarun

When two or more peers join the cluster concurrently, only the first one that
joins will distribute the index creation while reading its cache.xml file, the
rest will create the index locally due to the distributed message and log an
error afterwards, while trying to create the index from its own cache.xml file.
This error message is currently being registered under "ERROR" log level, and
it should be registered under "WARNING", or even not be registered at all since
this "exception" is expected during startup (we could easily cache the indexes
created locally by other distributed members)

[jira] [Created] (GEODE-1542) shared/unordered tcp/ip connection times out, initiating suspicion

2016-06-13 Thread Bruce Schuchardt (JIRA)
Bruce Schuchardt created GEODE-1542:
---

Summary: shared/unordered tcp/ip connection times out, initiating
suspicion
 Key: GEODE-1542
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GEODE-1542
 Project: Geode
  Issue Type: Bug
  Components: membership
Reporter: Bruce Schuchardt

I recently diagnosed a membership failure that was initiated when one member
(N) timed out its shared/unordered tcp/ip connection to another member (M).
Member M initiated suspect processing that lead to kicking member N out of the
system. We need to either stop timing out shared/unordered connections or have
an orderly shutdown mechanism so that we don't initiate suspect processing.

The final-check that M performed showed something odd. Member N never logged
that it processed a final check from M. Member M logged that it had connected
to N and read a status byte from it. The byte had the value 21, which is not a
valid response to a final check (it should be 0 or 0x7B).

{noformat}
Received [21, ent(clientgemfire3_ent_19225:19225):1028]
{noformat}

I verified that M used the correct tcp/ip port for N, so this is very odd and
needs to be investigated.

> 1. The Gfsh support isn't implemented yet. Maybe mention that in the doc, say
> "to be coming later".
> 2. The LuceneService.createIndex returns null instead of a lucene index, but
> the code sample indicates otherwise.
> 3. In section "Key Points" #4, the index should be created before the region
> is created, not before inserting data.
> 4. The xml sample provided in the wiki doesn't work out of the box. I think
> it's missing a quote and an ending cache for it to be a valid xml, but even
> if we added those, it's still complaining something about "Cannot find the

> The Statistics interface has methods to increment, set, and get the value of
> various statistics. The statistics are sampled at the sample-rate by the stat
> sampling thread.
> We should add a way to provide a callback that computes the value of the

> This is useful because some statistics are hard to update correctly using
> using increment operations. For example, tracking the total number of entries

GEODE-1422: Removing check to skip enqueuing temp events

This check was performed outside of synchronizing on the lock, which
means that some events could be added to the temp events after the
check. This caused the test to fail due to temp events being left in the
map.

Also, fixing two race conditions in
testParallelPropagationSenderStartAfterStop_Scenario2

1) It did some puts and stopped the sender without waiting for the
puts to complete. So they may not be available on the remote side

2) It started some puts asynchronously, and then started the sender
later. The puts performed before the sender started may not be present
on the remote side.

GEODE-1494: Allowing stats to be measured with callbacks

Adding support to measure statistics with suppliers that are sampled
every sample interval. The suppliers are invoked in a separate thread
than the stat sampler so that slow suppliers won't screw up all stats.

GEODE-1494: Changing stats list to be a CopyOnWriteArrayList

The statsList used to track Statistics in InternalDistributedSystem was
managed under a lock. That was problematic, because code that iterates
on the list needs to hold the lock. If the code invoking callbacks for
GEODE-1494 was slow, that means the lock would block other stats
operations.

Changing this list to a copy on write array list to holding a lock for a
long period of time.

ASF GitHub Bot commented on GEODE-1470:

Github user kirklund commented on the issue:

https://github.com/apache/incubator-geode/pull/154

2.6.1 was released on June 5th, so we should upgrade to 2.6.1 instead of
2.6.

The following tests fail consistently with both 2.6 and 2.6.1:
* AnalyzeSerializablesJUnitTest.testDataSerializables
* LogWriterAppenderJUnitTest.testAppenderToConfigHandling
* LogWriterAppenderJUnitTest.testLogWriterLevels

> There are more varieties of count than simply * within the count().
> Specifically, one can do:  {{count(distinct(field))}} or {{count(field)}}
> This makes checking for only {{count( * )}} incorrect. Instead, the search
