M2 external tool workplace refreshing is not working

There seems to be a similar 'refresh resources upon completion' checkbox as
with the general purpose external tool that is shipped with Eclipse. If I use
command line maven though the general purpose external tool, the workplace
subfolders get refreshed based on selected filters, but when using more
sophisticated maven embedded nothing seems happen and resources will be left
out of sync. This not a showstopper for me, but merely a really annoying lack
of functionality.
