When using NiFi regularly and sometimes all day, extra clicks get annoying for something you are doing constantly. I've heard the same feedback from users myself, that this feature would be useful. My only concern is getting this right for processors that do not stop instantly. I get super annoyed when I stop a long running processor that's currently using threads and I have to Refresh the canvas waiting for it to stop. It would be great for this feature to Stop the processor, wait for it to fully stop, then Configure. There might need to be a timeout in there if the processor doesn't stop in 10 seconds or so. Of course I didn't read the code before commenting ... it might already handle the long running processor case?
