Thank you for your feedback regarding the additional click required to access
flow file content, details, provenance, and other information due to the new
UX. Several important factors influenced this update:
Firstly, in many cases, the table listings in NiFi display numerous columns,
and as you noted, the widths are not resizable. This, combined with the density
of information in these listings, made it challenging for users to navigate and
comprehend. Previously, actions were spread across the 'actions' and
'moreDetails' columns, making it difficult for users to find the action they
were looking for and the inconsistency in which icons were sometimes clickable
or not and the inconsistent use of color for communicating state further
complicated the user experience especially for accessible users.
To address these issues, the 'more details' and 'actions' columns widths have
been reduced to maximize space for other important information in other
columns. Now, all actions are available via a single menu, ensuring every
option is consistently discoverable. Color as a status indicator has been
removed from the options in the menus and tooltips are only present on the
icons in the 'moreDetails' column at the beginning of the row, aiding users in
quickly viewing relevant details.
This change not only improves accessibility but also enhances the overall user
experience by increasing the readability of table contents and centralizing all
actions. While there is an additional click in some cases, this trade-off
results in a more intuitive and user-friendly interface.
I hope this clarifies some of the reasoning behind these UX changes. Please
