Only AOO401-snapshots with a revision of 1518259 or higher have the problem
fixed.  Older revisions such as 1516414 don't have the fix and without the fix
they of course still have the problem. Newer snapshot builds (which contain the
fix) will be available soon.

Irreproducible with WIN7

For further research an install log (installation from console with parameter
"/L*V" or similar) would be useful

As long as we do not have a fix for "Bug 0 - built-in file dialog/picker
deletes files permanently (bypassing trash)" Help should state that clearly
that deletion will not move file or folder to trash, but will delete it
permanently

Steps how to reproduce: in menu 'File -> Open' click >Help> button

Current text for "Display area":
"To delete a file, right-click the file, and then choose Delete."

Suggestion:
"To delete a file, right-click the file, and then choose Delete. Deletion will
be permanent, no undo will be possible"

NOT reproducible with "OOo 3.3.0 English UI / German locale [OOO330m20 (Build
9567)]" on  WIN7  Home Premium  (64bit) DE.

I tried with an arbitrary small (3 slides) presentation, run 20 slideshows and
then did menu 'File -> Exit', worked fine.

Without understanding the details, i can CONFIRM reporter'sobervations  with 
"AOO 4.1.0-Dev – English  UI / German locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750)  -  Rev.
1516435  2013-08-24]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user
profile:

1. From AOO Start Center open reporter's sample document
2. InSsheet2.B1 click Autofilter  dropdown arrrow
   > Filter list appears
   Expected: Should show all values in column
   Actual: only shows "All", "Top 10". "Standard Filter"  !!!
3. Continue, click 'Standard Filter'
   Expected: Filter Criteria dialog will open
   Actual: Nothing!!!

Additional info:
-
a) That still worked fine with server installation of  "AOO 3.4.1 – German UI /
German locale [AOO341m1(Build:9593) - Rev.1372282]" on German WIN7 Home Premium
(64bit)", own separate user profile. so REGRESSION

b) already broken in Rev. 1457992 (as expected due to report)

c) competitors: Works fine with LibO 4.0.3.3, Calligra, SoftMaker FreeOffice

d) I saved reporter's sample as Book2fromLibO4.ods, with that document 
   autofilter worked fine in AOO 4
e) I reopened Book2fromLibO4.ods with LibO and saved as Book2fromLibO4.xls
   Problem reappeared with AOO 4

Still not fixed.  Installed 4.0.1 from snapshot. I see no change in
performance.  Takes about 12 seconds to save a spreadsheet that saves in 3.4.1
in about 1 second

This happens if you save the document with "Save as" without modifying it.
But the settings are in different order:

A) in 3.4.1:

The main bug is that settings the current database settings read from the
document settings stored in settings.xml depends on the order the properties
are set for it to work, where CurrentDatabaseDataSource must be the first one
to be set:

SwDBData SwDoc::GetDBData() calls const SwDBData& SwDoc::GetDBDesc()
(sw/source/core/doc/docfld.cxx)
The algorithm there is:

if the datasource name has zero length, then try to get it from a db field in
use in the document
When the document is just loaded, it has no db fields in use yet, so the DS
name is not set.
If the DS name was not set above, then get the DB data from the address DB
(GetNewDBMgr()->GetAddressDBName() might return a default constructed SwDBData
if there is no addressbook set in the configuration)

If the document settings are set in the following order:

1. CurrentDatabaseCommand = biblio
2. CurrentDatabaseDataSource = Bibliography
3. CurrentDatabaseCommandType = 0

1) setting the DB command first works:
- mpDoc->GetDBData() returns a default constructed SwDBData( sDataSource = "";
sCommand = ""; nCommandType = 0) if there is no default address book.
- "biblio" is set in aData.sCommand and SwDoc::ChgDBData updates its aDBData

2) the bug occurs when setting the datasource is not the first SwDBData member
to be set:
- mpDoc->GetDBData() checks only aDBData.sDataSource.getLength(), it does not
take into account if one of the other members have been set.
It will try to get the DS name from the DB fields, but at this point there are
no fields in use.
It will then return GetNewDBMgr()->GetAddressDBName() which might be a default
constructed SwData or the address book which might be different from the DB
settings store in the document settings. In both cases, the
CurrentDatabaseCommand set previously, is now lost.

Supposing that there is no address book set

- step 1 sets aDBData with ( sDataSource = ""; sCommand = "biblio";
nCommandType = 0)
- step 2 with ( sDataSource = "Bibliography"; sCommand = ""; nCommandType = 0)
- step 3 with ( sDataSource = "Bibliography"; sCommand = ""; nCommandType = 0)

Thus, sCommand is empty. This is the result in (C) above, where the respective
setting has no value:





Conclusion, CurrentDatabaseDataSource must be the first DB property to be set.
This could be guaranteed if comphelper::MasterPropertySetInfo stored the
properties in the an orderer map, SwXDocumentSettings creates its property info
in the right order, and properties are set on loading and get on saving in the
right order.
But all of this is error prone; the ground error is in const SwDBData&
SwDoc::GetDBDesc() that only checks if SwDBData's sDataSource member is empty
or not, despite that the other members might have been set before.

A possible solution would be to initialize nCommandType in -1, and add a
operator! that checks if any of the members are set; then in const SwDBData&
SwDoc::GetDBDesc() check

if (!aDBData)

instead of

if(!aDBData.sDataSource.getLength())

If this will work, or introduce new regressions, I've no idea; so setting orw
in CC who might be in the know.

I was not able to produce such error with a new spreadsheet. The named
expressions with ADDRESS, INDIRECT, and VLOOKUP work in my spreadsheet.

The attached file is far too large and complex. It cannot be analyzed in a
reasonable time. Please provide a much smaller file, that shows the error.

If you generate the KID sdf with the -dbimport option like this:

[ariel@localhost main]$ perl ./l10ntools/scripts/keyidGen.pl
/home/ariel/translation/aoo40/aoo400.sdf
/home/ariel/translation/aoo40/kid-dbimport.sdf -dbimport

you get a sdf file like the en-US.sdf but with a column with the KID. This SDF
could be used to generate the PO templates, transforming the KID column into a
comment. Unfortunately didn't find any option in oo2po to do so.

An updated KeyID (kid) SDF file is now available in trunk. If the change is
ported to AOO401, translators will be able to use the AOO401 KeyID build to fix
translation errors more efficiently. Of course, the KeyID build is an internal

a) Menu 'Print -> Mail Merge' sometimes will work with reporter's sample 
document saved from 4.0.0, and sometimes it seems it works not? I am not sure
concerning my observations. May be I accidentally did a normal (not mail merge)
print during my tests

b) no significant CPU load

c) Copy of that document saved from AOO 4.0.0 works fine with LibO.

d) Mail Merge Assistant is not affected

e) It seems that 1 time proceeding print without mail merge until latest step
before print heals the problem

Further tests:

- Doc saved in version 3.4.1 works in 3.4.1 and 4.0.0 too

- Doc saved in version 4.0.0 *does not* work in 3.4.1 and 4.0.0 too

With the steps in the description, I can reproduce it in 3.3.0 and 3.4.1.
Steps I follow:

- New Writer document
- F4
- Select the data source Bibliography, table biblio
- drag the column Identifier inside the document to create a mail merge field
for that column
- Save the document
- Close the document
- Open the document
- Print, you will be asked if you want to print a form letter, answer Yes

Result: nothing happens.

It looks like the data source information is not taken into account.

I just realized this issue by receiving an excel spreadsheet with up to 6
conditional formattings for one cell. After importing to AOO, all formattings
exept for the first three were gone. But in LibreOffice, the number of
conditional formattings is unlimited, and after modifying the sheet in LO,
saving as *.ods, and reopening in AOO, all the added conditional formattings
were working as intended. Even No. 4, 5 and 6 in AOO. So I suppose, it is a
matter of a) the import procedure and b) of the UI. The UI should be changed to
offer access to an unlimited number of conditional formattings. Just as in LO.
Or in excel.

Some installed fonts do not show in LibreOffice as well, like Microsoft Meiryo.
Not sure how much different the code of OO is from LO now, but Meiryo is
ditributed as a truetype collection (.ttc) file. (although most .ttc fonts do
show)

ALG: It depends currently on the DragSingles setting which is part of the user
settings; this is the flag which switches when entering/leaving single point
mode. The error can be reproduced with a new doc when switching to
PointEditMode and then working on a text object. The test document has this
flag set in the user settings.
Of course this sould be independent from PointEditMode; checking sources...

ALG: This goes to old and dangerous stuff; it has to do with the EditEngine
itself which gets for active text edit coupled with the active window; during
text edit, it directly paints to that window (for repaints I already created a
way to paint into another OutputDevice to get rid of the repaint flicker). Due
to this direct painting into the window it collides with overlays, so no
overlays are allowed during text edit. Thus, the text frame which can be seen
during text edit is not part of the Overlay, but painted directly in the
EditEngine/Outliner paint phase (SdrObjEditView::ImpPaintOutlinerView). BTW:
This is one of the things I have on my list of necessary reworks...
To solve this, there is already code in SdrMarkView::SetMarkHandles which
avoids handle/overlay object creation (see bHideHandlesWhenInTextEdit and
bHideHandlesWhenOleActive), but only in the case for bFrmHdl (the case in
PointEdit mode). This needs to be done in all modes, so it needs to be moved
outside. An alternative is to force to bFrmHdl with TextEdit. Trying this
out...

The style "default" does not update properly when updating styles from a
modified template.  Instead of updating to the template's "default" style, it
reverts to the "default" style you would see if you were working from the basic
template included with Draw.

You can reproduce this error by doing the following:

-First create a drawing and modify the style labeled "default".
-Create at least one object and give it the "default" style.
-Save this drawing as a template, say testdefault.
-Create a new drawing based on that template.
-Save the new drawing, say testdefault1.
-Create a new drawing based on that template (testdefault).
-Modify anything about that drawing.  You do not have to modify any styles for
this error to happen.
-Save this drawing over the template (testdefault).
-Open your previously saved drawing (testdefault1).
-You will be prompted with "The template 'testdefault' on which this document
is based, has been modified. Do you want to update style based formattings
according to the modified template?" with three options: "Update Styles" "Keep
Old Styles" and "Help".
-Select "Update Styles".

This also applies to the other basic styles that come with a new drawing, such
as "heading".  However this does work properly if you created a new style
completely.

I have had it reported to me that this bug is also present in 4.0.

AOO 4.0 has fixes to prevent the CREATION of new savedState files. So if AOO
4.0 is installed and the old savedState files are removed then this problem
cannot reoccur.

Many autotests use a pattern
deleteFile(saveTo);
saveAs(saveTo);
when writing temporary documents, typical examples being
- fvt.gui.sd.headerandfooter.DocumentWithHeaderFooter
- fvt.gui.sc.sort.SortDialogSetting

They then often fail the saveAs step with a timeout because the race condition
between the file deletion and the document saving results in a message box "The
file has been changed since it was opened for editing in %PRODUCTNAME. Saving
your version of the document will overwrite changes made by others.\n\nDo you
want to save anyway?" and this message box is waiting for input and never gets
it.

ALG: It depends currently on the DragSingles setting which is part of the user
settings; this is the flag which switches when entering/leaving single point
mode. The error can be reproduced with a new doc when switching to
PointEditMode and then working on a text object. The test document has this
flag set in the user settings.
Of course this sould be independent from PointEditMode; checking sources...

A few days after I reported this bug, I tested AOO again. A few time I tried,
and nothing happened. But, After several times, when I opened a few documents,
somehow it crashed.
I tested Libre Office 4.0.4.2 and there I can not reproducing this problem. Is
there someone who looking bugs for LO? Maybe LO had the same problem. In that
case, it will be helpful to see how they find solution.

ALG: The difference is that on the old stuff the frame around the activated
text object keeps it's handles and keeps blinking, while for new ones the
handles are taken away at edit activation and the blinking is stopped. Latter
is how it should be. Checking why this happens with 'old' objects...
