It is sad to hear that you had got the described problem. Unfortunately, it is hard to reproduce and thus fix the described problem without having a sample file and more detailed steps which you did before the crash occurs. It looks like that AOO crashes right in the middle of the saving to *.doc process. If you could provide the sample file and some more information about the actions which you performed before the crash, it may be possible to reproduce the crash and then to fix it. BTW, AOO has a feature to create automatically corresponding recovery data to restore open documents in case of a crash. in the general load/save options (Menu Tools - Options - Load/Save - General) you can activate option Save Autorecovery information... You can also choose the time interval. With the Canon PS3_v14.00 driver for an ImageRunner 7105 copier (which can be used as a high-speed printer), for a 100-page document, OpenOffice 4.1's printing status box (screenshot attached) remains up for 37 seconds. Another computer has OpenOffice 3.2.1 and the Canon PCL6 v14.00 INF driver for the same ImageRunner 7105 machine, and the document spools to be printed, so the status box will complete/disappear almost instantaneously. In screenshot 1, you can see that I have Garamond-MT installed. To be sure: I validated the font, it's fine, and these same files worked perfectly in 00 4.0, so the problem couldn't possible be the font files. Also, in TextEdit, the font behaves completely normal. But, if I go to OO 4.1.0, I get this (see screenshot n. 2 and 3). It seems like OO 4.1.0 selects the Italic as primary and recognizes it as Regular. (I get the exact same italic letters when I make the font italic. Bold and Bold-italic, on the other hand, work perfectly.) If I go to font book, and I disable the italic and the bold components of this font, this happens (screenshot 4). So now, it all of a sudden, it recognizes the regular component. (Final note: this only happens with Garamond-MT. I have a large amount of other fonts, and they work perfectly.) I really don't know what the problem could be.) Again, I was not able to reproduce the crash. Thank you for the test on my document. Indeed, it's very strange. My Vista seems to be clean (updated each month, and always cleaned with CCleaner after each AOO uninstallation), and the problem appeared at each AOO410 installation and disappeared after each re-installation of AOO401. The initializations for these are widely distributed over writer and behave different depending in which order DrawModel and DocShell are created (!). Please allow 0.5-2.0 seconds before showing [extended] tips while hovering items, across all AOO. Issue 77170 requested that tooltips should be shown instantly because they didn't show for too long. The solution is somewhere in the middle. From my experience, Windows tooltips show after .5-1.0 seconds; Mac OS show tooltips after a longer time, 2-3 seconds. According to the documentation, one can only toggle Extended Tips, but not to control their appearance offset (=delay).
