It is not sufficient since from the found element carrying the CssStyle (a style element) the parent would be the svg node again, leading to a loop of parent stales. So there has to be a mechanism added which breaks this potential loop. There are more problems when using this. The initialization of the style from the outmost svg element needs to be handled, default is black filled. When this element uses a CssStyle this (and potentially others) are not allowed to be set since as a hard attribute would hide the CssStyle setting from this (e.g. RectWithParentStyles.svg). Also SvgGNode represents defs and g elements, thus some methods have to handle things different if it's not a group (getSvgStyleAttributes, decomposeSvgNode). Added this changes, all docs from bugdoc of Issue 125254 load as expected, the crash is fixed, too. I mean, I do understand the issue: the OpenOffice character map does not show the full font, but only entries in Unicode. Still, if I run /usr/bin/gnome-character-map on my system and I open Liberation Serif and I select the Miao group (U+16F00 and above) I only see the squares with numbers within (see attached image), and this happens for all groups above . So I see and I understand the limitation in OpenOffice described in this issue, but on the other hand I don't see any real glyphs above using the GNOME character map. Maybe I miss something in my system? Based on the offical odt spec. 9.1.4 table:table-cell page 178 of the document can a table cell table:table-cell have a child fram element draw:frame. When I try to use it, the image is not displayed in the Writer, only when I embrace the frame node with an text:p node it works. But this causes me some problems when the table cell only includes an image and no text. It will leave an empty text space under the image which can't be removed and blows up the size of the table space by the factor 2... I managed to extract content.xml using Archive manager, found the problem, which was, in essence, FIVE MEGS of the following code, repeated over and over: draw:frame draw:style-name=fr1 draw:name=Image2 text:anchor-type=char svg:x=-0.847cm svg:y=0.305cm svg:width=10.292cm svg:height=23.322cm draw:z-index=0draw:image xlink:href=Pictures/12AF05DC073F5D19.png xlink:type=simple xlink:show=embed xlink:actuate=onLoad//draw:frame After this file has been saved, it *incorrectly* reports the .odt filesize as 4.2 MB, despite it having a 5.2 MB file as only a part of it. When subsequently opening the file, ooo is slowed to a crawl, becoming essentially unusable. I have no idea why its doing this, but there is something very wrong with openoffice's save routines. This has happened twice, on two different files. OpenOffice worked fine on the file for a week or so, then magically saved it wrong and forced me to jump through ridiculous hoops to recover it and my work. It's possible that its adding an extra frame tag for the image each time it saves or autosaves, but I haven't confirmed that.
