--- Comment #6 from Scott shull2...@my.fit.edu ---
Ive revised the steps, I am unable to replicate the bug on version 4.1.1.

Nissen472, if you are still having this issue, try updating to the latest
version of Open Office. This could help correct your issue.

Open Office Writer
Type the following content into the writer:
1 I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts There they are all standing in a row Big
ones, small ones, some as big as your head Give them a twist a flick of the
wrist That’s what the showman said 2 I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts There
they are all standing in a row Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head
Give them a twist a flick of the wrist That’s what the showman said 5 I’ve got
a lovely bunch of coconuts There they are all standing in a row Big ones, small
ones, some as big as your head Give them a twist a flick of the wrist That’s
what the showman said
Hit ENTER (or Carriage Return)
Click the Numbering (On/Off) Button on the properties toolbar
For (1.) type ASDF1. Hit ENTER
For (2.) type ASDF2. Hit Enter
For (3.) Type ASDF4. Hit Enter
Hit Enter again
The bug states that this should have done one of two things:
Should have crashed the program
Would not have left the numbering mode

Just found out that turning off numbering/bulleting, manually, takes care of
the issue. Numbering =F12, then backspace once, then carriage return to next
line.
Consider case closed/solved.

Even with your work around, if the problem exists it is still a bug. If this
is happening, this can be considered a fairly major issue.

This failure could lead to something more serious (I am more concerned about
your program crashing and you almost losing your work).

If you get time, can you replicate the the bug like the steps listed above? If
my steps are not exactly what you did, could you specify what you did
differently?

What I have done is to include the extra numbering/bullets toolbar on one side
of the ui. When this occurs, as it does more than I'd like, and multiple
carriage returns do not auto off thefeature, I then go up to the Bullet bar,
and manually turn this off.
This may be a pecific issue created by running multipl antilog/antivirus
software, as I also must take specific precautions in other software.

Can you include a set of steps, like the post above, to help explain how you
arrived at this bug or post a video? I am having issues trying to replicate
your bug based on your explanations.

For example, numbering/bullets toolbar on one side of the ui. I do not know
where this comes from. Do you mean you are using a different toolbar, or added
a specific button, to your toolbar? If so, how did you enable this feature?
And how did you move it to one side?

I ran the same test, but I used the Properties UI for numbering and for
bullets and was unable to replicate the bug you mentioned.

In other words, I ran the same steps as outlined above, but instead of clicking
the top toolbar button for numbering and for bullets, I click the same type of
button on the Right Side Properties window.

The bug was listed for all Windows 7 operating systems, so I will attempt the
replicate the bug on my own machine (Windows 7 64 bit).

1.) Open Office Writer
2.) Type the following content into the writer:
a.) 1 I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts There they are all standing in a
row Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head Give them a twist a flick of
the wrist That’s what the showman said 2 I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts
There they are all standing in a row Big ones, small ones, some as big as your
head Give them a twist a flick of the wrist That’s what the showman said 5 I’ve
got a lovely bunch of coconuts There they are all standing in a row Big ones,
small ones, some as big as your head Give them a twist a flick of the wrist
That’s what the showman said
3.) Hit ENTER (or Carriage Return)
4.) Click the Numbering (On/Off) Button on the toolbar (You can also try F12)
5.) For (1.) type ASDF1. Hit ENTER
6.) For (2.) type ASDF2. Hit Enter
7.) For (3.) Type ASDF4. Hit Enter
8.) Hit Enter again

The bug states that this should have done one of two things:
1.) Should have crashed the program
2.) Would not have left the numbering mode
On my test machine, neither of these errors showed.

The described behavior does not happen on 32-bit Linux, version
AOO411m3(Build:9773) - Rev. 1612804
2014-07-23 11:36 - Linux i686

The double CR causes a break from numbering sequence as expected. So, maybe it
needs to be tested just with Windows 7.
