The Database stuff worked fine with 4.1.0. After upgrading to 4.1.1, it can't find the Java installation. I am running OSX 10.9.5 I even tried going in to preferences in AOO and manually pointing to the Apple Java Runtime environment since it doesn't automatically show up on the available list of runtimes. I upgraded to 1.8 and reinstalled AOO 4.1.1, it didn't work right away. Had to go to Preferences->OpenOffice->Java but 1.8 didn't show up until I clicked on "Add".
