Browsing dari kompie lain bro. Kita asumsikan IPCop punya 2 NIC yakni Red untuk
WAN (misal 212.154.12.2 yg dikasih ISP) dan Green untuk LAN (Misal 192.168.1.1)
Nah untuk memange IPCop, anda tinggal pake web browser dan masuk ke alamat
gateway 192.168.1.1:445
Dari situ ntar ada form https terus tinggal masukin username ama password-nya
ketika setup sebelumnya.
Nah nanti akan muncul deh tampilan GUI IPcop. Di situlahntar andakan bermain2
konfigurasi.

Coba mas pake ClarkConnect. Udah ada firewall-IDS-IPS, MRTG, Qos, Content
Filtering, Web server, NAT 1:1 (bisa s/d 3 NIC), plus email postfix plus
antispam.
Harganya kalau ga salah USD 245.
Tapi untuk atur bandwitdh per user kayaknya belum ada.
Buat kyg udah ngreti linux CC memang kayak mainan.

anda tinggal tuning aja.
Nah supaya squidnya ipcop lebih powerfull, tinggal pasang add on tambahan yakni
Adv Proxy. Nah di situ anda bisa atur maximal bandwith per user berapa kbps.
Kalau aku seh max bandwith per user sekitar 128 kbps (16 kBps) coz bandwith
kantor sekitar 512 kbps.
Pake squid/proxy benar2 bisa menghemat bandwiidth karena sudah diatur
pemakaiannnya jadi tidak ada hukum rimba. Dankelihatannya di trafik MRTG-nya
jadi jarang sampai 100% full.

caranya udah saya kasih tau:
1. donwload file iso
2. Buat sebuah CD installation dengan file iso tsb.
3. Siapkan sebuah PC dengan dua NIC.
4. Boot PC dengan menggunakan CD installation yang barusan di buat.
5. Ikuti step2 installation. Isi parameter installasi: IP Address, DNS,
dll, next, next sampe finish.
6. restart
7. Colok ke network, configure via web browser
Untuk main2/oprek2 anda bisa gunakan PC tua, tapi untuk production saya
sarankan paling tidak PIII keatas dengan memory 256 MB. Sepanjang anda
mengerti konsep firewall dan proxy, tidak masalah anda tidak mengerti
linux. Anda login ke konsole, pun tampilannya adalah menu
interaktif (bukan command prompt) tinggal pilih, next, finish, back, dll.

bayangkan...ga usah cari -cari squid for windows ..karena linux banyak yang
sudah jadi distro spesial ..( linux Box ) ..seperti Endian Firewall
...mudah, tinggal boot dari CD ..terus setting...udah deh masuk web base nya
untuk konfigure ...udah ada squid nya juga

1. Adanya server untuk proxy, serta email internal. (Pengennya sih

sebagai contoh. dan untuk email banyak pilihannya, salah satunya
menggunakan postfix dan cyrus, atau kalo kaya exchange bisa coba scalix

Klo saya sendiri sih lebih memilih IPCop, disamping dia Firewall + Squid
juga administrasinya mudah.
Klo squid ada yang for windows, tapi klo IPCop for windows saya blom
pernah denger (maklum masih cupu)
Sekedar tambahan, yg pernah saya denger IPCop tidak bisa diinstall dual
boot dengan OS apapun (CMIIW, Blon pernah cek kebenarannya) ;

Ipcop sendiri apa anda sudah coba? gampang apa susah?
caranya udah saya kasih tau:
1. donwload file iso
2. Buat sebuah CD installation dengan file iso tsb.
3. Siapkan sebuah PC dengan dua NIC.
4. Boot PC dengan menggunakan CD installation yang barusan di buat.
5. Ikuti step2 installation. Isi parameter installasi: IP Address, DNS,
dll, next, next sampe finish.

Yang pasti saat anda install, anda diminta masukin IP address, Ip
gateway, password dll.
Begitu selesai install dan kemudian anda colok ipcop anda ke LAN, maka
dari salah satu komputer client anda sudah bisa browse ke
https://ip address ip-cop:81
login disitu kemudian anda bisa utak atik konfigurasi.

VMWare bisa jalan di atas Linux ataupun Windows, kemudian nanti VM machinenya diinstall IPCop. Dgn itu anda bisa melakukan test dengan mudah. Bahkan kalo kagak salah sudah ada kok VM machine yang ready to be downloaded udah isi begituan di sitenya VMWare. Mungkin pertanyaan ini lebih cocok di tujukan ke mas denis arifin, saya cuma menjawab pertanyaan beliau, dengan sedikit tambahan agar pak Denis hati2 jika mau test and trial seperti saya dulu, yg berencana membuat dual boot dengan winxp :) VMWare sendiri pakai yng Workstation version. Bisa trial 30 hari. Kalo udah habis licensenya ya apply lagi, atau kalau VM machine gak perlu diotak atik, tinggal pakai VMWare Player yang free. Atau kalau VM machinya gak perlu display, bisa di telnet atau SSH, pakai aja VMWare ESX yang baru baru ini dibuat free.
