We have the same situation where I work. We get logos (in EPS) which we save as SVG from Adobe Illustrator. We then convert the SVG to PDF using Batik (as suggested in the book iText in Action). The resulting PDF is stored in the system. I think you can also save as (or print as) PDF directly from Illustrator. We can then add the PDF logos to our reports via ImportedPage objects with very good performance. I am really impressed by the small size of the resulting PDFs. The original EPS files are usually a couple of hundred kb, the SVG is 30-80 kb and the resulting PDFs are ca 5 kb. Convert the EPS->PDF. Acrobat Distiller or Ghostscript, to name two common utilities for the task. EPS is a dead technology - it's not used any longer... EPS (and PS) graphics operators and operands are very similar to PDF operators and operands, so it's not impossible to translate the PS syntax into PDF syntax. You were the one talking about "using SVG". The only vector format supported natively by iText is WMF and PDF. Anything else will require a third party program. [iText-questions] Vector Graphics not using EPS
Hi, I'm trying to add logos in my pdf and they need to be vector graphics. I've read in the book iText in action that only some eps are supported and when trying with eps generated from adobe it throws an exception. Is there a way to use vector graphics with iText. The book says SVG is supported.
