AMB 0.12 Final Released

2014-11-06 Thread Rees, Kevron
After 10 months of development, Automotive Message Broker version 0.12
is final. The focus for this version has been on performance. 0.12
starts up faster and performs up to 80% more efficiently than 0.11.

There have been quite a few API changes since 0.11 so be sure to see
the release notes and documentation links.

Release notes:
https://github.com/otcshare/automotive-message-broker/blob/0.12/RELEASE

Docs: http://otcshare.github.io/automotive-message-broker/docs/amb/html/
DBus API docs:

Version 0.13 (Next release)

Lots of cool things have already been added to what will become 0.13.
First, full unification with the W3C Automotive Business Group Vehicle
Data API will be included. That way native and web can expect the
same types and units. Additionally, work to do Driver Drowsiness
Detection (ADAS) using the OpenCV plugin with OpenCL optimizations has
begun.

AMB 0.12 has been submitted to Tizen so grab the latest Tizen IVI
development snapshot and give it a try! More info on runnin on Tizen
can be found here:

You are welcome. I am glad that I was able to help.

PS I read all the sunxi docs but now all the pieces fall into one.

It is recommended to use the linux-sunxi fork of Das U-Boot:
https://github.com/linux-sunxi/u-boot-sunxi [1]

There is a version of U-Boot for Tizen but so far it is targeting
Odroid and the Tizen developer devices trats (RD-210) and trats2
(PR-PQ) only. Information about U-Boot for Tizen has been revealed
during LinuxCon Europe:
http://sched.co/1xmhyG4 [2]

In another talk during the same event Hans de Goede revealed the
status of U-Boot for Sunxi devices. As far as I remember he
announced that the mainline U-Boot is (or will be soon) compatible
with A10 & A20. More details regarding his presentation are
available at:
http://sched.co/1xmrE9N [3]

2. Tizen kernel source?
As far as I understood (and I actuallty installed it myself) the
freshest
version of the Sunxi's kernel for A20 is 3.4. There are no
kernels above 3.4
that will work with all the Cubieboard 2's hardware features.
Is this also true for Tizen? Or there is some newer kernel
version somewhere
in the Tizen's source tree?

Tizen:Common and IVI require kernel 3.14 LTSI but at the moment the
latest stable version of the kernel for Sunxi devices is 3.4. There
are ongoing initiatives among the linux-sunxi community to support
mainline kernel on A20 but a lot of things are still not working
properly.

1. Where exactly this 3.14 LTSi kernel located in the Tizen source
tree?
Or is it just a mainline kernel with specific Tizen defconfig?

Yes, it is the mainline kernel.

2. Which exactly features do not work in Tizen on the 3.14 LTSi
kernel?

As far as I know Tizen:Common and the profiles based on it such as IVI
are supposed to be fully complaint with 3.14 LTSi kernel so everything
should be working :)

The major issues that you will face with Tizen:Common (or IVI) &
linux-sunxi 3.4 on A20 devices are the support of smack options as well
as the Mali DDK for Wayland.

Best regards,
Leon

Hello, Leon!

Thank you for the presentation about Tizen on open source hardware.
I've got a very useful tip about rebooting if something goes wrong :)
It sounds funny but it really saved my time twice!

I've read these links. However I still got questions..
Can you, please, see my other email?
I wrote it today. It's about Tizen IVI 3.0 on the Cubieboard 2 A20.

Thank you!

I've decided to take an easier way for now and
install Tizen IVI on the Cubieboard 2 A20 with ARMv7.
Just to get used to gbs, obs, applications and all the stuff..

Tizen's U-boot and kernel sources for booting Tizen IVI 3.0 on Cubieboard 2 A20?

2014-11-06 Thread Grigory Ptashko
Hello, list!

Recently, I've got myself a Cubieboard 2 with the A20 chip.
I've been playing with some distros (Cubian, Lubuntu) and finally understood
some basics.
I got used to the sunxi-3.4 kernel cross compilation and booting it
with the Sunxi's U-boot version.

And now I'd like to install Tizen IVI 3.0 on the Cubieboard 2 A20.
I've been surfing around all the docs, tutorials, Tizen's and Linux-sunxi's
Wikis but finally got a bit confused.

Here are my questions.

1. U-boot version for Tizen?
Is there a special version of U-boot for Tizen which is located somewhere in
the Tizen source tree?
Or will the Sunxi's U-boot version will be enough to boot Tizen?

2. Tizen kernel source?
As far as I understood (and I actuallty installed it myself) the freshest
version of the Sunxi's kernel for A20 is 3.4. There are no kernels above 3.4
that will work with all the Cubieboard 2's hardware features.
Is this also true for Tizen? Or there is some newer kernel version somewhere
in the Tizen's source tree?

In other words where should I take the sources for the U-boot and the kernel
to boot latest Tizen IVI 3.0 on an A20 board?

Thank you.
