RE: Building Qt for Tizen IVI M2

Hi Tomasz,

We typically always publish the debuginfo RPMs too... why would you not want to
build and distribute these (I don't personnally consider these 'dirty' packages
:))?

But to your question: I don't know of a way of not building the *-debuginfo-*
RPMs.

Thanks,
Geoffroy

One more question :)
Is there a way to extract(or not to build) debuginfo packages from gbs build?
I have many debug info packages in e.g.
~/GBS-ROOT/local/repos/tizen_3.0_dev/i586/RPMS and they are also listed
somewhere in ~/GBS-ROOT/local/repos/tizen_3.0_dev/i586/repodata. I would like
to have clean release packages repository.

Hi,
In qt-project wiki you will find url to tizenbuildtools repository. It has
tools to automate build Qt for Tizen 2.2 emulator(i386) and Samsung
developer devices(arm). The main problem it with preparing sysroot for
cross compilation. As I See Tizen 2.2 is different from IVI 3.0 because
simple unpacking rpm's into one directory was sufficient. When I tried to
make it that way in IVI 3.0 it i didn't work (not all kernel headers was
available in includepath). I suppose that there were some post installl
scripts which made symbolic links to proper includepath directories and so
on. Anyway I hadn't got much time to analyze it so I tried gbs and it
worked.

If Tizen 2.0 Packages are more like Tizen 2.2 emulator then tizenbuildtools
can be used. It will download all rpms by wget and extract them to sysroot
directory, then download qt sources and build them.
I'm working on providing Tizen packages for IVI 3.0 and Tizen 2.2. I only
need to wait a few days for hosting service. If you are not in a hurry them
I suggest to wait a few days and use prepared specs (spec files for 2.2
should also work with 2.0 - maybe small modifications will be needed). If
you want to try it now then I can check out the tizenbuildtools this
evening (polish evening:) ) for [1] repo and maybe make a branch in
tizenbuildtools for your purpose.

I managed to build almost all qt packages and run sample applications on IVI

I also found out why 3d acceleration didn't work on VMWare Player on Linux

When I turned the VM on there was communicate that 3d acceleration may have
issues with my host graphics but I simply ignored it.

Perhaps I have edited wiki to early - but it looked like it should work on

See if your Player runs from your user account. driconf creates .drirc file

When I manage to build everything I will prepare some wiki article about it.

You can first build qmake with gbs and then have your qt build use that.

You need to have them under the same directory:

src/qt
src/qmake

and then

$ gbs build -A  src/

Thank you for the answer. I would like to mention that I suppose that repo
sync hangs because I added
Host tizen

to my .ssh/config and it should be
Host review.tizen.org.
Both names occurs in wiki and docs so I simply copy and paste some build
instructions and encounter such issue. Using adequate url's should solve
the problem.

Unfortunately I think that I need more help with build process. So far I
have some understanding of gbs but... could you please correct following
statements or give an advice regarding some of them.
1. The only thing I need to build Qt for Tizen IVI is gbs build.
2. Qt base module needs to run configure script before compilation part. It
looks for different dependencies in sysroot and makes some assumptions
(e.g. If it finds glib then glib event loop is used as Qt event loop, if it
finds gstreamer then it uses it as backend for multimedia and so on). I
need to do that after dependencies will appear in rootstrap. It should be
done by gbs. Additionally qt uses internally qmake tool for creating
makefiles, I know that there is possibility of building Qt with CMake but i
don't know state of this and would rather not to test it now.
3. Building existing projects/repositories is clear to me (just clone repo
and make gbs build with proper tizen IVI gbs.conf file).
4. Building and creating new projects is not clear. I can only suppose that
project need to be git based (contains .git directory and its content). I
don't know what tar.gz file you had in mind and what is the packaging
directory (I tried to looks docs for gbs directory tree but couldn't find
any)

I'm sorry for being troublesome and ask for your understanding. Barriers to
entry look rather high for gbs...

GBS does it automatically for you.

I realized we're missing documentation how to make new source code
buildable in Tizen. [1] and [2] are quite close thought.

What you need is

1) tar.gz file imported to a local git tree
2) .spec file in the packaging/ directory with all build dependencies
listed there
3) gbs build

.xml fetch url to ssh://@review.tizen.org:29418)

Thanks for detailed description.
Correct me if I am wrong but it looks like it is can be helpful when I will
want to provide Qt projects/packages for Tizen.
What I need now is a way to prepare ivi rootstrap from command line. I
tried to follow
https://source.tizen.org/documentation/developer-guide/creating-tizen-platform-image-scratch-through-local-build
But it hangs on repo sync:

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

It is needed for gbs build right? In the time of writing this mail someone
also encounter such problem and I asked the question in the thread too(
https://lists.tizen.org/pipermail/ivi/2013-August/000792.html). Mikko
Ilynen pointed out that there should be no reason to build whole IVI
locally. How do I create rootstrap for cross compilation and development
then?

When I will successfully build whole IVI I will try to build Qt using
created rootstrap as Qt sysroot and try out Qt wayland pluging.

Sorry if my questions are banal but I couldn't find documentation of
creating platform image from scratch that will work in my env(Ubuntu 13.04).

Regarding https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/How_to_contribute_to_Tizen_IVI article
- could you please add some bits about how to start a new project - not
only contribute to existing one? Is there any sandbox area in
review.tizen.org for some kind of community alpha stage addons?

For what it's worth, I try to keep the 'How to contribute to Tizen IVI' wiki
[1] page up-to-date. It's not a replacement for reading the complete GBS
documentation [2] but I do try to provide additional and relevant info for
those working on Tizen IVI. I include for example a gbs.conf that is
pre-configured for the latest Tizen IVI monthly preview:
https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/How_to_contribute_to_Tizen_IVI#Setting_up_GBS_for_Tizen_IVI

Any suggestions/comments on how to improve this page are obviously welcome!

You should be using local gbs builds instead of remote builds that
require build server access (something not generally available).

Geoffroy, I will try this out.
Kevron, I asked for build privilege on tizen.org 2 weeks ago but still
don't get any answer.
But when I checked while writing this email - I have access to gerrit now
(I didn't have it 2 days ago :) ). So now I can try with gbs.

But on second thought, I did't get any information about giving me the
access and there is no information about it in my tizen.org account. Is
there any way that I can confirm that?

Hi,

As far as I remeber I was able to build(crosscompile) Qt for IVI M1. I simply
downloaded all packages from:
http://download.tizen.org/releases/milestone/tizen/ivi/latest/repos/ivi/ia32/packages<http://download.tizen.org/releases/milestone/tizen/ivi/latest/repos/ivi/ia32/packages/>

unpacked them into one directory and treated it as rootfs. Now with M2
something has changed.
I don't have e.g. asm/errno.h and asm/types.th<http://types.th> in /usr/include
(I think that there was something like bootstrap directory in root directory
which has these headers).
[Geoffroy] IIRC, these used to be installed by the kernel-headers package.
There does not seem to be such package in M2 anymore and it *looks* like it's
replaced by the linux-glibc-devel package. Can you this a try and let us know
if it helps?

Building Qt for Tizen IVI M2

2013-08-10 Thread Tomasz Olszak
Hi,

As far as I remeber I was able to build(crosscompile) Qt for IVI M1. I
simply downloaded all packages from:
http://download.tizen.org/releases/milestone/tizen/ivi/latest/repos/ivi/ia32/packages

unpacked them into one directory and treated it as rootfs. Now with M2

I don't have e.g. asm/errno.h and asm/types.th in /usr/include (I think
that there was something like bootstrap directory in root directory which
has these headers).

Do you know how could I prepare rootfs for crosscompilation? Or maybe there
is somewhere such development image.

I use i386 gnu compiler from Tizen SDK. I would prefer not to build Qt in
vmware image - rather crosscompile on desktop and install on image.
